Decent Integration of Suspects
Hitchcoc29 January 2020
When a man is found, a possible suicide, it is revealed that he couldn't have done it. So, it's a murder. A blue blood family is at the center of everything. They set up a wall of obfuscation because they feel so superior. But there are chinks in their armor that begin to present themselves. The way this is put together makes for a pretty good episode.

Those Darned Writers
Hitchcoc29 January 2020
A young woman is found murdered. The chief suspect is a well known writer who is incognito. He is a lecherous guy whose wife puts up with him. We are soon submerged in a plot that dates back many years. The cause of it all sort of comes out of the blue, but it is quite an entertaining episode.

Busy place, the cornwall constabulary ... supt wycliffe hammers more suspects until one of them finally capitulates .... its hardly brainy detective work when you try the shoe on everyone until you make it fit

The Dead Flautist

We find out a little about Wycliffe's past in this episode. He has little time for the landed gentry given how they treated his father up north.

Wycliffe investigates the suicide of an amateur flautist Tony Miller in a cottage at the Bottrell estate. However it looks like murder.

Also another woman Lizzie Biddick has disappeared. She was a maid with the Bottrells. She might have been connected to his death. Later Lizzie Biddick turns up dead.

The Bottrell's are asked about their alibis about the time Miller died. Lord Hugh Bottrell is a member of the House of Lords gives an adequate explanation. His wife Lady Cynthia Bottrell was with her husband's brother Guy.

Although Guy was cagey about his whereabouts at first until Lady Cynthia confirms their affair.

Wycliffe also finds out that Lord Botterill was also in a relationship with Tony Miller. Something his wife might have been aware of.

When Lizzie Biddick's backpack is found, there are several naughty photographs. The police haul in local solicitor Steven Lander. He is a keen photographer including nude models. According to his family, he also has a bad temper.

There was a lot going on. Shady illicit affairs, skeletons in the cupboard. Several likely suspects. It is shame that the conclusion was a bit of a thud.

The murderer just confessed in a matter of fact way when under little pressure. The only twist being that the murderer's motives were erroneous.
