For some reason I always felt that this legendary sitcom went on a season too long, and that this episode should have been the final episode. In fact, as 'Raymond' has no link between episodes you could in fact watch this as the final episode.
The reason for that is because it gives us the ending we thought we'd get - Marie and Frank moving away. It would have changed the show completely, and given us a suitable sense of things moving on.
There are some lovely moments in this episode, and with a lovely poignant final scene. I personally would have preferred this to be the end, because there were very few moments in the final season that topped this.
