Chelsea Handler has lost control, and not in the vodka-fueled manner one might expect from the former late-night queen. For her new Netflix documentary miniseries, Chelsea Does, the self-described "control freak" relinquished her power and let others take charge.
"It was a complete departure from anything I had ever done," she says. The New Jersey native had curated a self-deprecating, mean-party-girl image in a series of comedic memoirs (her 2005 book, My Horizontal Life, was the first of five she's penned to date) and eight years as a host on E!

Anyone who watches "Chelsea Lately" knows a few things about it's host:
1. She hates redheads
2. She often berates her staff on the air
3. She's absolutely f-in' hysterical
Also hysterical, are the writers who help make her show a success. Now with E!'s new Sunday night show, "After Lately," we get to see even more of the crew behind Chelsea Handler.
Zap2it caught up with Chris Franjola and Brad Wollack, who often appear on the "Chelsea Lately" round-table and will play prominent roles in the new "After Lately." We asked them about their first interactions with the funny lady and what it's really like to work in that office.
While Franjola and Handler are old friends, meeting at a Mexican bar in Studio City nearly 15 years ago, Wollack's first interaction with the comedienne was not so pleasant.

momlogic's Vivian:
I never thought it would happen. I came to a realization that goes against each and every fiber of my being as a straight-up music worshipper, and defies each modicum of what I consider sanity. But it's true, and I don't think I can afford to deny the pain of my reality any longer.
I think I'm finally too old for the MTV Video Music Awards.
If you'd known how deeply I felt this event for decades (decades!), you'd well understand how I'm able to consider this a grave travesty. The years I spent begging, pleading and cajoling my parents for undisputed mastery of the remote during the prime-time hours of that night, all to virtually experience this ultimate free-fall party down where the musicians drank, snorted and shoved each other into the hellfires of FCC-bleepin' oblivion with salacious abandon. Today, it's been demoted to an act of posterity.

E! Entertainment Television is ramping up its late-night programming with a new strip featuring comedian Chelsea Handler, who starred in the network's The Chelsea Handler Show.
E! said the new show, titled Chelsea Lately, will take an "irreverent" look at the hot topics of the day. The hourlong strip, set to debut in July, also will feature guests, comedic field packages and viewer call-ins.
"Comedy works for E! in late-night, so the launch of a new series with Chelsea Handler is the perfect fare for our viewers as we celebrate summer," E! executive vp programming development Lisa Berger said. "Chelsea brings her unique wit and perspective on pop culture that is a perfect fit for E! and we know viewers will welcome the chance to get a daily dose of her new show this summer."
Handler is on a national stand-up tour and has performed at such festivals as the Montreal Comedy Festival and the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo.
