"A Novel Idea" gives us a look at how bad the fourth season would be, with Gabe Kaplan absent (apart from the opening and closing jokes), and a really awful plot. Mr. Woodman has written a Civil War story with characters similar to the Kotters and the Sweathogs, which hardly qualifies as a classic, Woodman depicting himself as a hero, pitted against the villainous Sweathogs. After acting out a Civil War scene in class, the guys decide to fight fire with fire by scripting a story in which Woodman is an extraterrestrial baddie up against the valiant 'Spacehogs.' Dumb doesn't begin to describe the viewing experience, which almost makes the next season look better by comparison, but at least all four Sweathogs are present.
