This is the third and final appearance Ralph Bell makes in the series and the second of two appearances wherein he plays William Smathers, Martin's newspaper publisher. He plays a doctor in his first appearance, i.e. in Double Date (1963), and debuts his Smathers role in Patty and the Newspaper Game (1965).
This is the second of two appearances Susan Anspach makes in the series, each time appearing in minor roles. This appearance occurs very early in her acting career, and, although her career enjoyed only limited success as a star, it did garner for her much more substantial roles starting a few years after this appearance with the movie The Landlord (1970).
Richards suggests that the editor of the column is a dinosaur and should return to the La Brea Tar Pits where he was dug up. The Tar Pits is a location in Los Angeles, CA, that has yielded enormous quantities of paleontological finds, such as woolly mammoths and saber-toothed tigers. Contrary to Richard's suggestion, no evidence of dinosaurs has ever been found at the site.
