The concept of a Wild West theme park robots rebelling is based on Westworld (1973). One of the robots looks like Yul Brynner, the star of that movie. The same movie was previously used as one of the central metaphors of The Night Ghoul of Wonderworld (1979).
John Lawman is a caricature of John Wayne, who spoke in a similar draw and used "pilgrim" as a greeting to tenderfeet in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) and McLintock! (1963).
