The Art of 'The Sting' (2005)

*** (out of 4)

Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Ray Walston, David S. Ward, Eileen Brennan and Charles Durning are among the people interviewed for this documentary that covers the making of the 1973 classic THE STING. I believe some of the interviews were shot years earlier but this is still very much worth watching if you're a fan of the film. Obviously the highlight is having Newman and Redford on hand to talk about how the two of them were made aware of the project and how they ended up signing. From here we get to hear from some of the supporting players as everyone talks about what it was like on the set and what director George Roy Hill was like.

Again, if you're a fan of the film then you're going to enjoy hearing these behind-the-scenes stories because they give you a great idea of some of the things that were going on while the camera wasn't rolling. We also get some great stories about Robert Shaw as well as the film's release. A more detailed documentary wouldn't have hurt but for the most part this is very entertaining and it at least has the main stars on hand discussing the film.
