Darn, I seem to be getting pleased with every episode so far. Even at its most basic level this show just oozed with the charm! This one's got a great start to it, with the ever-awesome Megabyte using a massive crane-like construction which is powered by a rare magnet that is very harmful if it comes into contact with Sprites, to punch a hole straight through to the supercomputer, which is his ongoing mission and primary goal as a virus through the whole series, as it will basically allow him complete control over the digital realm of Mainframe - until Bob screws things up when he swings into action and slices through the machine with his trusty Glitch Cutter! He swipes the volatile magnet and escapes the Virus' wrath but then thanks to his carelessness, it soon attacks Dot and threatens to erase her program unless Bob can get hold of some "Really, Really Slow Food" really really fast!!! I can't help but laugh at the hysterical effect the magnet has on Dot! I love the endless quirkiness, how even a far-out place like Mainframe has a seedy bar where a guy can rustle up some scandal on a dark night. Great first appearance of a running gag with "Al" the waiter who you never see, only hear! I'm going on the darn record right now to say that Tony Jay possessed the ultimate in Gothic voicework, none will ever come even close to matching what he was capable of with his vocal performances. AT the beginning it shows Megabyte with his pet Nul, "Nibbles", a sub-lifeform which is what happens when a Sprite essentially 'dies', and that you won't be finding out until much later in the series is that he keeps the being as a kind of cruel joke as it was once upon a time the very Sprite who inadvertently created he and Hexadecimal both! Nice medieval castle dragon riding type game. I love the games, they're always generally among the best parts of an episode. I may love this show but the robotic animation in these early seasons is rough even to me, especially in the eye expressions, but in a way that is what makes it - back in the 90s when this first came out, CGI and graphics in video games was largely at about the same level, so it was a lot more 'accessible' in that way back then. How it looks is a big part of its very identity as a show. Thank ye kindly!
