NEW YORK -- Few viewers decided to turn the page to CBS's Tuesday Night Book Club in its opener. The reality series, a sort of Desperate Housewives set in Scottsdale, Ariz., came in third in a three-way race at 10 p.m. and was unable to hold its lead-in's audience despite being one of a handful of original programs on Tuesday night's schedule. Tuesday Night Book Club averaged 5.1 million viewers and a 1.7 rating/5 share in adults 18-49, according to preliminary data released Wednesday by Nielsen Media Research. It was down 41% from the time period's average last summer. NBC came in strong with its reality series Last Comic Standing, which averaged 9 million viewers and a 4.0/11 in the demo. Last Comic Standing followed the return of Fear Factor, which averaged 7 million viewers and a 2.7/9 in the demo. Meanwhile, the Miami Heat's come-from-behind victory against the Dallas Mavericks in NBA finals game 3 boosted ABC's ratings Tuesday night.
