Searching for Jodie
richard.fuller129 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This episode would have Jodie Foster doing the voice of the tomboy daughter, Anne. Overall, this is the only thing that makes episodes of this show distinguishable in the end.

Eye of the Idol wouldn't even have a song or a musical number (just showing the kids with the instruments). The ending solution is revealed by a simple slip. Perhaps the mystery would have been stronger had the fact not been stated so soon before the revelation.

Scene stealer Flip wasn't heard from much this time, but the two center boys, Tom and Alan, had some dialogue here.

Upon reviewing this episode again, which was reworked into the fourth issue of the '72 Gold Key comic book, I couldn't help but note one worthwhile joke.

Tom, the brainy one, and Anne, the tomboy, venture out in a boat to search a nearby ship. What they don't know is that a mysterious diver (one of those unexplained henchmen again) has taken the oars, leaving Tom and Anne drifting in the boat.

The resulting joke is actually worded better in the comic book.

Anne: What should we do?

Tom (standing in boat): Try to remember that Chinese Dad taught us, I guess.

Searching for Jodie makes one listen to how often and who talks in this cartoon series.
