Luke Skywalker on Room 222

Warning: Spoilers
Four years before battling Darth Vader, Mark Hamill appears on the show as a boy from the Sierra Mountians who finds himself like a Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court when he becomes a student at Walt Whitman High. He has never really had to deal with peers his own age or traditional teachers even though he technically has a lot of natural "smarts" to him. He can talk about farming and living off the land but has struggles with filling out basic school paperwork! Talk about culture shock! He comes up with a creative an original idea to fix up a neighborhood park and motivates the others to really roll up their sleeves proclaiming it as one of the best things Walt Whitman has ever done. However it all comes to naught when Hamill's character neglects the paperwork for the project and the city has to tear it down. Like in so many other episodes his father is an ignorant jerk who needs a good old Pete Dixon pep talk to set him on the right path. There is an amusing subplot involving Alice's overflowing washing machine and her desire to live a simpler way of life.

Matt (Hamill) was raised by his father in the Sierra mountains, he now arrives at Walt Whitman and gets a taste of civilization.

An OK start to the fifth and final season. Matt wants to fix up a neighborhood park and gets the other students involved. He finds out about city ordinances and red tape. Arthur Peterson appears as an older man sympathetic to their cause. He would later play the Major on "Soap".
