An unusual teaching method

Warning: Spoilers
I take it that Lloyd Haynes was interesting in flying because he wrote the story for this episode. Pete Dixon used some unorthodox means to reach his students but the one he uses in this episode takes the cake. Eddie is one of those students who is really the bane of your existance he can do everything but won't do anything but a chance ride with Mister Dixon in his plane gets him interested in flying and it seems like he has turned the corner but then the school board wants to cut the budget and eliminate the program. There is a good scene where Dixon tells the boy not to use the color of his skin as an excuse that there were black pilots like the Tuskeegee Airmen who had to put up with much more. There is an amusing Alice Johnson subplot where she tries to give up on jun food to no avail and we also find that Mister IKaufman is scared of flying.

Flight School

A bored student Eddie may be transferred to another school, Pete comes up with an idea of flight school training to keep him interested.

A pretty good episode. We find out Pete is a licensed pilot in this one. His friend Fred runs the flight school (he is played by Paul Picerni, who was in the horror classic "House Of Wax" (1953). A school board member (James Sikking, later on "Hill Street Blues) wants to cancel the program due to lack of funds.
