Eddie McGuire was forced to sacrifice his on-air commitments after it was announced on 9 Feb 2006 that he would become the new Chief Executive Officer of the Nine Network, a position which had been vacant since David Gyngell left the role in May 2005. The series was axed after Nine were unable to find a suitable replacement, unlike McGuire's other main on-air role as host of The Footy Show (1994) where he was replaced by Garry Lyon and James Brayshaw.
A report by Joel Gibson that appeared in The Sydney Morning Herald the morning after the airing of this episode mentioned that Tony Egan of Wagga Wagga, New South Wales was the final contestant, and he won A$32,000.
This was the final episode of the series' original run.
