'The New Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show' was one of the Scooby Doo shows that was actually better than remembered through young adult eyes. Never disliked the show, but it was never among my favourites of the Scooby Doo franchise. It still isn't and some episodes are better than others, which is true actually of all the shows in the franchise but more so the 80s incarnations. But there were a few things not picked up upon before that came off really well, and what bothered me when younger actually was one of the best things.

Of the two episodes in this double bill, "The Fall Dog" is the much better one and part of me knew from reading the far more appealing plot summary on numerous episode listings before rewatching both that it would be. To me, that is one of the best episodes of the show and actually better than remembered than watching it as a child. Whereas "The Scooby Coupe" is one of the somewhere bang in the middle sort of episodes, not awful, not great, generally pretty average and not much more or less.

"The Fall Dog" (8/10)- Starting with the negatives, the animation is not always great outside of the stunts and cool looking gremlin. Some of the colours are on the garish side and the drawing to look rushed. Also have always felt that the director is a very grating character, really did make me hate the word awesome for a while.

However, all the gang are true to character and resourceful and fun to watch. Shaggy and Scooby never fail to be funny and endearing and Daphne's more resourceful and assertive personality that she began to adopt in the 80s is very refreshing. Outside of 'Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo', Scrappy hasn't bothered me as much as most do. The chemistry between them is great as is the voice acting. The stunts are really cool, while the gremlin villain is scary and is one of the most dangerous. This is also one of the show's few episodes where the perpetrator surprised me. The episode clearly has a lot of fun with the setting, which the franchise has always done well.

"The Scooby Coupe" (5/10)- The best things about it are the amazing cars and the setting, which was pretty unique at this point of the franchise. Shaggy and Scooby are amusing with some typically endearingly goofy jokes, while the music and voice acting are fine. Scrappy chickening out was an interesting touch, have no issues with any of the gang individually and together and the villain was pretty spooky to begin with.

Sadly though, the villain also became rather generic later on and once the incriminating clue was found the spookiness completely went. The reveal was not a surprise at all, had a pretty good idea who the perpetrator was almost immediately (one of those something about them being shifty sort of occasions) and there is nothing new about the motive. There is very little memorable about the plot, which is also quite thin, and the same goes with the supporting characters as well.

In conclusion, one episode very good, the other middle of the road average at best. 7/10.
