Remake the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still
insearchofyou28 October 2006
Ron Howard...you should do a remake of the classic thriller, The day the earth stood still! This is one of the best classics ever Imagine the different slants on this story line A great movie to begin adapting to todays technology Could be your best movie yet Saw it today on TCM Put it on your "to do" list I'll be one of the first to watch it! Get back to me. so i guess i have to write ten lines to get this message posted. why do i have to write so much to express such a simple thought? Someone should revise this so that a simple message can be displayed without having to write a story just to get an idea across. This is one of the man things wrong with todays society!

The most important film list ever!

Warning: Spoilers
Personally, I hadn't viewed the whole episode, but I had viewed the entire list (including the films that were nominated). The reason for the high star rating is because I believe it is the most important list films for any film viewer and lover to analyse. 'Cheers' in question are in relation to themes of inspiration. This means that each film contains a main message. For instance; The Wizard Of Oz's message is 'There's No Place Like Home', To Kill A Mockingbird warns viewers to stay away from racism. There are some films from my personal top ten included in this list. Among them include ET The Extra Terrestrial, Pinocchio (which is the only cartoon on there did you know), Schindler's List and Thelma & Louise. (see reviews) The films I'd watched so far include: It's A Wonderful Life, To Kill A Mockingbird, Schindler's List, Rocky, Mr Smith Goes To Washington, ET The Extra Terrestrial, Miracle On 34th Street, Saving Private Ryan, Bridge On The River Kwai, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Shawshank Redemption, Wizard Of Oz, Field Of Dreams, City Of Lights, Lawrence Of Arabia, On The Waterfront, Forrest Gump, Pinocchio, Star Wars IV, Sound OF Music, Gone With The Wind, 2001 A Space Odyssey, Color Purple, Day That Earth Stood Still, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Braveheart, Rain Man, Ben Hur, Thelma & Louise, Ten Commandments, Babe, Fiddler On The Roof, Karate Kid and Chariots Of Fire.

So WHO did the voting?

Warning: Spoilers
Whilst there is little doubt that all the movies listed in the so-called top one hundred inspirational movies were top movies I would love to know whose opinion was foisted upon us. What happened to movies like Titanic - acknowledged by the Motion Picture Academy as one of the greatest movies of all time? Wasn't that film inspirational enough to rate the top 100? I guess it all comes down to what inspires people. Personally, I found the Lord of the Rings trilogy very inspirational as a parallel to the scriptural story of good versus evil with good triumphing in the end but it wasn't even there! As I watched the last half-hour of this long, drawn-out procession of movies supposedly categorizes in reverse order, I found myself thinking, "Wow! Titanic and Lord of the Rings must be in the top ten!" because, whilst I would have rated both highly, I wasn't expecting them to be that high. What a waste of time! Next time get at least a thousand cross-section movie-goers to vote.
