- Richie and Eddie are depressed when their TV set is taken away when they fail to pay the rent and cannot think of anything to keep themselves occupied. Richie decides to challenge Eddie at playing some games, including "How much custard can you put in your underpants" and chess. Richie and Eddie decide to play chess by using various items in the house to replace the missing pieces.—Daniel Williamson
- The episode begins with the boys filling in a crossword, however neither know how to play and give up. Eddie laments why the television was taken away, according to Richie it was because Eddie gave the rent money to a man selling magic beans, according to Eddie it was because Richie had spent it on bogus penis extension surgery.
The boys attempt to combat their boredom with silly games, starting with "Put a bit of Sellotape on the Fridge." (It had started as "Pin the Tail on the Donkey.") Which Eddie wins. Followed by "See How Much Custard You Can Hold in Your Underpants." Richie wins. Richie recommends Chess as a tie-breaker, but unbeknownst to Richie, Eddie has sold most of the valuable pieces. So they improvise with objects from around the room.
Once the Chess board is ready Richie attempts to create a more fitting atmosphere with home-made cocktails and umbrellas, and just as they're about to start playing Richie reveals he doesn't know how to play Chess. By 5 am Eddie is still teaching Richie the rules, with limited results, a frustrated Eddie wants to start playing and makes his first move, Richie takes a while to make his move and still not understanding the rules sends all his pieces into a charge attack to a bemused Eddie. Eddie moves his Queen across the board in an erratic pattern taking all of Richie's pieces and declares "Checkmate!"
Richie, being the sore loser he is, punches Eddie and a fight breaks out, while bashing Richie's head in the fridge door, Eddie breaks the fourth wall and addresses the irony of the television encouraging violence, but they are beating each other up and they have no T.V.
Whereupon Richie says they do, it was hidden behind the fridge to evade repossession. When Eddie asks why, Richie claims it would've been interesting to spend a day without television, they could "get a bit of interaction going." Eddie's answer to "getting interaction going" is to smash the T.V. over Richie's head.
