A prime suspect is Dutton, but it's not Kevin Costner. He's a big shot with an alibi in the case of a murder of a posh restaurant's femme manager, but there's never a doubt that "Closer" Kyra Sedgwick will smoke out the actual murderer and come up with a confession.
The police action and murder mystery is well-done, but almost secondary to the way Kyra dominates the show with her eccentric behavior, fascinating Southern-fried line delivery and domination over a definitely unsavory cast of suspects. There's plenty of black humor derived from grisly aspects to the killing by knife in the restaurant kitchen setting.
