Nicely animated, a clever little piece
Entilza7225 June 2006
Saw this one at a traveling film festival.

It's a clever little number. A well written (and well read) narration forms the basis of the piece, around which are what I would describe as "some wonderfully animated Russian style" figures depicting the action. The presentation reminds me of the style of a kids' animated fable, but more for adults.

Often short film "gems" can be hard to get to see. So I can tell you this one is worth a look if you have the chance to see it at a festival - especially if you're a vegetarian! Having said that, it's for vegetarians and carnivores alike!

Highly revolting,...but clever!

Warning: Spoilers
At first, I thought this short film was made by PETA, as it does have a very strong anti-meat message. Then I thought the film was made by Communists, as it does have a very strong anti-Royalty and Bourgeois bent as well. However, if you watch it to the very end, you realize that the film makers are equal opportunity offenders--as you see practically everyone roasted, so to speak.

The film begins with a large group of the upper crust of society going to a fancy dinner. However, these folks are very strangely animated (in a good way) and you can't help but be impressed by their weirdness. In many ways, the art looks like the characters from some of children's book author Jon Scieszka--in particular "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs" (a GREAT book, illustrated by Lane Smith) and "The Stinky Cheese Man" (also illustrated by Smith). This gives the story a great look. Plus, had the art work been more realistic and less silly, the story simply would have been too disgusting to watch. That's because after a HUGE meal of practically every type of animal imaginable, suddenly a lifetime of animal meals all came regurgitating up--alive and in one piece!!! Again, the message seemed to be very anti-meat, but then the story begins again as it shows a similar but perhaps more disgusting ailment that suddenly began with all the vegetarian!

Wildly inventive but highly revolting--this is a film kids would adore and adults would most likely find too repulsive but still rather funny.
