This episode would have been perfect for the last half hour episode. It has everything the barbecue the most typical of suburban activity and gathering for families, friends and neighbors .
The basic plot to build the barbecue comes about on Ricky's vacation as he's driving Lucy crazy! Lucy " honey why don't you call up little Freddie Mertz to come over and play?" Meanwhile little Ricky's kite and Lucy's lost wedding ring come into play as well.
Ethel gives Lucy the idea of starting to build the barbecue to get Ricky to do it . They however get roped in as helpers . Even with Fred joining them. From there on it gets even funnier especially some of Ethel's funny lines.
The moment Lucy's lost wedding ring is found is funny, sweet and romantic. A much more natural sentimental moment than some of the others over the years.
The look of the barbecue after Lucy and Ethel take it apart and put it back together! It looks like something out of Dr .Seuss !
Every main character has a significant role and funny lines . I think it would have made a better last episode than the one about dedicating a statue.
