Richard Gilliland returns for the first time in a year as J. D., in Atlanta on business and coming back as Mary Jo decides that she wants another child. Suzanne spends the episode mainly with her back to the audience as she takes up smoking in hopes of losing weight. This keeps catching her wigs on fire, and it really becomes a pain in the ash for the other women to deal with the stench. A very funny episode that makes you wonder why all of a sudden that there was no Reese or Dash this season, just a voice over by Bill and this one appearance by J. D. The conversation between Mary Jo and J. D. of her desires brings up a lot of funny moments of conversation, yet gets to show J. D.'s elements of honor. Good emotional moments between Annie Potts and Richard Gilliland (recently departed as of the date of my writing) show their chemistry, even if he married Jean Smart in real life. It's funny that in their conversation over having a child together, Mary Jo and J. D. really start to act more like children than the child Mary Jo wants to have. One of the most memorable episodes of the series even if not outstanding.
