Best game I've played in awhile
thomaswheeler9427 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Possible minor spoilers but not too direct with plot

Hi everyone

This is one of the best games in awhile I've played on. It's fun, challenging and addictive for all ages. You play as the heroes of the rebellion in story mode as you play through Episode 4, 5 and 6 - The Original Trilogy.

As the game progresses you gain studs (money) which you can use to unlock bonuses and other characters you wouldn't be able to unlock.

Also in the levels there are 10 canisters you can find to make a transportation. (e.g. a ship from the movies) and also there is 1 secret red brick on each level that unlocks a bonus.

After you've played through a mission on Story Mode you can back with a selected amount of people you've already unlocked and find the things you've missed before.

Compared to the 1st one (Lego Star Wars) this seems to me 10x better. Certainly in the top 10 Star Wars games I've ever played at the time (I didn't have an Xbox).

If you like this I would recommend Lego Star Wars (1) as this is the sequel and you WILL have more fun if you've played (and saved) a copy of the 1st one.

Not much has changed but still an enjoyable game

the first game rocked but the second was pure non stop action packed fun. lego star wars 2 is by far one of the best games any body could receive i had mine preorder before it came out and i must say it was 50 bucks well spent. although i cant say that i enjoy a few things about it.For starters even though they added combat to the characters i really find it annoying due to the fact that some of the characters are about non stop at attacking foes. the double jump is useful for some but han solo,Luke and lando are just head diving down n not jumping at all. the running time of this game is wayyy longer but i still love n always will continue to play this wonderful and awesome game

The best adaptation of the Star Wars Original trilogy.
gabrielgamer-1595925 January 2024
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy is a playful masterpiece that exceptionally captures the essence of the original Star Wars trilogy. The game combines the popular Lego franchise with George Lucas' epic universe, creating an enchanting and nostalgic experience. The simple and accessible gameplay, with a mix of combat, puzzles and exploration, makes the game suitable for players of all ages. The decision to use Lego characters in the context of Star Wars adds a humorous touch, while the fidelity to the events of the original trilogy captivates fans of the saga. Lego building mechanics, where pieces can be assembled and disassembled, are cleverly incorporated into the gameplay. The variety of playable characters and their specific abilities offer strategic diversity and reward exploration. Visually, the game maintains the colorful and playful aesthetic of the Lego series, while the levels are expertly constructed to reflect the iconic Star Wars environments. The soundtrack, composed by John Williams, is a highlight, contributing to the game's epic atmosphere. In short, "Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy" is a brilliant celebration of the original trilogy, offering an enchanting experience that will appeal to Lego fans and Star Wars enthusiasts alike. It receives a score of 9 for its effective execution and the balance between fun and fidelity to the source of inspiration.

Full of the humour, pathos and magic missed by other SW games.

You don't need to visit another toy shop again. Here, in this game, you have all the fun and joy you had in the late nineteen-seventies or early eighties, crouched on a hearth rug or front porch with a Sarlacc pit made of mudpie and pebbles.

There's a soundtrack supplied, but you will be humming the theme tune at the exciting bits and making blaster or lightsabre noises when the action gets going.

Just as the Lego prequel game injected a knockabout fun that the prequel movies never really achieved, this captures that original throwaway fun perfectly. This is important as the "hop in a battered spaceship and see something weird" attitude is what marks SW fans out from the Federation Stipulated antics of Trekkies or even Browncoats.

The whole family can join in. Those who grew up with the movies will enjoy the nostalgia and raise eyebrows on repeated listening of the John Williams soundtrack - 'Planet of the Apes' loomed large over the score methinks.

Infants will be challenged by the problem solving escapades and the puzzles and progression are constructed in such a way that, just as with the force, your intuition in a certain situation is usually the best way to go.

A big improvement on an almost flawless game!

Warning: Spoilers
the first Lego star wars was one of the very few games that can entertain people of all ages and this new game repeats that magic with the original trilogy! the original trilogy IS star wars, they are the films that captured peoples imagination, and the idea of it being turned into a Lego game like the prequel trilogy, was at first, scoffed at. but yet again game makers have pulled it off. this game has the same game play as the first game and can challenge you on each level. although the first one was brilliant it was rather easy to complete and had very little for you to do afterwards, but this one is a different story as it is much more challenging and has a special bonus which allows you to make your own star wars character and combine the original characters. it is loaded with the charm that made the first game such a hit. this truly has made a big improvement on an almost flawless game!

The classic trilogy always better !
leplatypus7 September 2009
If the first game was a huge disappointment, this second game is successfulÂ… because he corrects all the flaws of the original game: the game-play!

Goodbye the impossible jumps! Forgotten the unplayable vehicles sequences! Now, the levels are easy and you can be sure to finish the game!

Actually, the missions are maybe a bit too long (it took me 12 hours to complete the game) or sometimes can be painful (blast everything to build something, to jump, to open,...) ... but it's star-wars!

It is a real pleasure to live again all the big moments of the first trilogy: Tatoine, Death Star, Hoth, Bespin, Jabba, Endor and the final battle against the Emperor! This was my childhood and this game captures all the excitement of that time!

Some people say it is the best Star Wars game ever: i agree! I remember to have played the Super Nintendo (and Nes) games and don't have so fun. Feel the difference with the Hoth battle against the At-At, the speeder bike chase or the space battles of the death stars! (Remember to fail to get the falcon out the new one in those old games!)

So, even if it is PC/window game (with music troubleshooting or freeze program!), you really should try it!
