Lucy wants their son little Ricky to become a doctor and Ricky Sr. Wants him to become a drummer because little Ricky has a good beat. Both say that it is up to Little Ricky. They also agree not to try to influence Little Ricky. Lucy buys Little Ricky a toy doctor kit to practice being a doctor. Ricky Sr. Purchases Little Ricky a drum to learn the drums. Lucy attempts to swipe the drum from Little Ricky until Ricky cries out " No, Momma". So little Ricky is now a drummer to be. Ricky Jr. Plays the same beat over and over for days. He plays the beat so loud that it is driving everyone crazy including the Mertzes. Ricky Jr. Parents are just about to tell Ricky to play only an hour a day right when Fred and Ethyl are knocking on the door to complain 'nicely'. Well, it turns out to become a huge feud between this pair of best friends. Fred shuts of the heat and water and electricity of the Ricardo apartment in full violation of the law to get the Ricardo family to move out. Lucy and Ricky will not relocate as they have a 99 years lease. Well, Little Ricky runs away to avoid the arguments between his parents and God-parents. When the four realize he his gone they get frantic. They locate Ricky Jr in the Mertzes apartment. Both pairs of best friends apologize and we have another happy ending.

Doctor or drummer?

Ricky wants little Ricky to become a drummer while Lucy would prefer he becomes a doctor. Ethel and Fred suggest they let him decide. On the surface Lucy and Ricky agree but both get him something to encourage him a certain way.
Little Ricky likes both but he's suddenly playing the drums constantly. On one hand his parents don't want to inhibit him but after a while the nonstop drumming gets to be too much even for the Mertz's in a different apartment Just as Lucy and Ricky are about to get Little Ricky to cut down the Mertz's make the same suggestion in a nice way. Suddenly little Ricky stops and Fred unfortunately makes it clear it's a relief! A big argument breaks out and Lucy tells Little Ricky to play more! With a long lease that could go on for years. The Mertz's are determined to break the lease,
They had all planned on going to the theater that night but the fight puts an end to that and only Lucy and Ricky are going . Suddenly they realize Fred had cut their utilities ( no gas ( uncooked chicken) no electricity and suddenly as the Ricardo's are getting ready no water! They take their revenge and start playing drums, pots and pans in the kitchen louder than little Ricky ever did they are yelling at the top of their lungs . Both sides go too far it actually looked like things could get totally out of hand when Mrs Trumble shows up and says little Ricky is missing. Lucy starts to call the police and Ricky is about to run out to look for him. Fred has already taken off and returns and leads them all to the Mertz's apartment. Little Ricky is sound asleep with ear muffs to block out all the noise. Lucy and Ricky apologize to the Mertz's who also soften . The friends reunite.
