Screenwriter Tom Beach was cruising the Internet and found a screenplay competition whose entry deadline was the following day. He wrote a single draft of "The Handyman" that afternoon, mailing it the same day. That draft was the winning entry.
British actor and director, Kenneth Branagh, after reading "The Handyman", remarked, "... the best short screenplay I have ever read."
