Much as I like Maigret, (I saw the originals back in the 60s, they were very popular), this one is a real clunker.
As the other review on here (by Prismark) says, what have 3 apparently respectable men got to hide, and why do they keep popping up together and feigning they don't know anything?
But by the time we got to the end, I'd lost interest in the motive for their actions, unusual for me but I don't blame Simenon, just the adaptation, and screenplay for TV.
Matters weren't helped by one of the supporting actors overacting in a way that would have made AmDram players squirm, and for that we must blame the director too, unless they were very short of time and budget to make it look better?
Series 2 starts next week (Talking Pictures channel in UK) and I look forward to that.
