An explosive finish

Vincent struggles in the aftermath of Glenna's suicide, as the gig at The Pavilion arrives.

This is an eventful epilogue to the previous dramas with a lot of focus is on Vincent's reaction to Glenna's death and the support (and lack of) from those around him. Maurice Roëves puts his heart into a performance that is sympathetic, outrageous and darkly humorous in various moments. It helps that John Byrne's story and dialogue is perfect for all these factors in this quite tragic character arc.

Danny and Suzi conclude their romantic 'will they/won't they' moments and (as in other episodes) these are some of the best scenes with the combined talent of Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson rivalling any of the great screen couples in history. John Byrne effortlessly shows how to write a romance with great banter between two characters that works so well.

Other characters like Eddie, Miss Toner, Bomba, Fud, Noreen, and Dennis all contribute well.

For me it's an 8.5/10 but I round upwards.

With Glenna's death, Vincent's world is falling apart. The rest of the band are sad but not exactly supportive of Vincent.

They just had an inkling that there never was a baby in the fist place. A fact confirmed by Vincent's wife. He had a low sperm count.

When I first saw Tutti Frutti, I saw this as a dark romantic comedy. More about the banter and the burgeoning romance between Suzi and Danny.

Now it is a bleak comedy about the disintegration of Danny. Suzi and Danny are merely side characters.

It was a performance of a lifetime from Maurice Roëves and he knew it. He should had got more awards. Instead Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson got the plaudits.

In later years Maurice who gained some prominent on American television. He admitted that he took a risk and took less money to do Tutti Frutti. It would be his lasting legacy.
