Laura must go before Joan Bennett returns from her vacation.

Warning: Spoilers
It's obvious that an actor is either going on vacation or touring in a play or filming a movie when plotlines take them out of town. Outside of Ruth Warrick or Lois Kibbee, I couldn't see anyone else playing Elizabeth (Stanwyck maybe...), so Joan Bennett's presence is missed. Laura seems to be getting edgy in desperation to get away, and her strange union with estranged husband Roger takes an interesting turn here. She seems to fear of having no power since Liz is away and attempts blackmail to keep Roger under control. Victoria and Dr. Guthrie discuss David's nightmares and the presence of Josette which brings up the possibility of a seance, previously mentioned which indicates perhaps a mistake in episode editing.

A strange close-up on Carolyn with Victoria and Dr. Guthrie in the background as she comments on the thickness of evil in the air really is inspiring for the show's gothic horror future. Roger only agrees to the seance with the promise that Dr. Guthrie would leave if it failed. Louis Edmunds sets up some great subtle humor with his belief that a seance would simply be preposterous, even though the audience knows different. The evil sounding background music returns as Carolyn prepares to confront Laura, leaving Victoria in chills. But Carolyn has seemingly grown up a bit, and she knows exactly how to deal with the fiery succubus that is her Aunt Laura, a great setup for a tense confrontation.

Good work, Carolyn...

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 167 heavily features the character of Laura, who is either sinister or intensely irritating depending on your predilection for the actress portraying her. Elsewhere, Victoria gives good worried and Guthrie continues to be a crusading presence. It's nice to see Carolyn stepping up too.
