Great!
AgentofEvolution24 September 2006
Before watching this special, I had only seen Katt Williams in Friday After Next, where he played a pimp (a "profession" Williams practiced before his comedy career blew off).

The Pimp Chronicles pt. 1 is probably one of the funniest specials I've seen in years. Chappelle's San Fransisco special was probably better, but this comes in at a good second place.

Williams is a breath of fresh air in his timing alone, even though the themes are not as original - ranging from weed to ladies. It doesn't matter, at all. This guy is just funny in anything he says or does. These 45 minutes fly by way too quickly, and I seriously hope Williams will continue putting out great comedy in the years to come.

9/10 - You're one funny pimp, Katt.

Hysterical

"Hold Up, Wait a minute, let me put some pimpin' in it". Katt is one of those rare commedians that comes along every few years and just shakes things up. His HBO Special, Katt Williams, Pimp Chronicles Pt. 1, is his first introduction onto the big stage of standup comedy and what an introduction it is!!! For those of you out their who are big fans of Money Mike, of Friday After Next, you're in for a big treat. The guy is going to shake the comedy world up. His content isn't all that original. Clearly, their elements in common with Chappelle, Richard Pryor, Chris Rock and Eddy Murphy, but his "character" and presentation are uniquely pimp, and this sets him above and apart. I can't wait for Pimp Chronicles Part 2. Katt, get started on the new material. We are waiting for ya!!!

Positively brilliant!

With the hilarious combination of his voice, his appearance, his gift for physical comedy and his razor-sharp wit, the man goes straight to the heart of comedy and stays there the entire time.

I'm not typically fond of comedians who overuse profanity and slurs, but Katt Williams is one of very few comics in America who uses them well. To perfection actually...

I also really love the rhythmic style of his delivery.

And his bit on "weed" was probably the funniest i've even heard on the subject!

Kat Williams is the new Richard Pryor, except to me, Williams is even funnier. Two thumbs way up!

When a friend recommended I watch this, I couldn't even think who Kat Williams was, until he said the Pimp on Friday After Next. Now I'm thinking OK, we'll see. Wow that was excellent! Oh my God, I never laughed so hard in my life. I've been to the comedy connection in Laurel, seen Mike Epp on HBO, Cedric, all of them. I love comedy! I need more Katt. We had to pause it to get it together to laugh some more. I think I may have sweat my perm out laughing at this fool. Sexy and talented!! I love me some Katt Williams. I can't wait to see the Pimp Chronicles II and already ordered my Kat Williams Live on DVD on amazon.com.

OMG!!! I wished I'd had cable when this came out in September on HBO.

Thank God for Netflix and no late fees! I've seen this show so many times, and laughed so hard, that EVERY time I see it, I catch something I missed before from laughing so hard! And I kept the DVD until my order from Amazon came in cuz I didn't want to spend a day without the preachings from Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1.

And of course I will see him when he comes to town with Pimp Chronicles Pt. 2!!! If you loved Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy's stand up, you gotta see Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love to laugh and this is a definite must have for anyone that loves raw comedy at its best!

A genius at his prime

Katt Williams will be known as famous comedian. He is new on the scene but as all of you know he found his way to fame though TV sitcom cameos and then the MTV show Wild 'n Out. He is quick, witty, and he tells it like it is. He doesn't just spit out jokes and hope to get a quick laugh as some comedians do. He is a presence; he owns the stage. His language is free flowing and uncensored. His main goal is to entertain you, it's as though he feeds off it and you can see it in his face. Katt is real, but raw. He appeals to all cultures and people. His diverse and ingenious humor will hypnotize you. If you don't see this act, you will definitely be missing out on history in the making.

I Love you Katt

The movie was off the chain, my favorite part was with Michael Jackson, when he said "do you climb trees" and the part with the drugs. Katt you are right about the club part, cause they don't want to dance and kick it no more they want to go to the club and try an act hard, someone step on there shoe now they want shoot you and stuff but I love your movie I love your role on Friday After Next. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your talent with the world and keep up the good work. You know like you said shake those haters off, hair is beautiful keep shaking it. Pimpin, pimping pimping I am a boy Damon your not in prison anymore.I need to figure out how to get more people to hate on me.

Who is Katt Williams?
lambiepie-223 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The first thing I asked myself when I saw this comedy special was "Who is Katt Williams and why should I care about a pimp chronicle?" I didn't know who he was, but after watching this little comedy special, I'd like to see him more.

Watching this man in action in this comedy special, you know a star comedian of the decade is being born. He's still working through the typical stand-up rough spots as this is a performance piece with a persona of a pimp that he's pulling off - only big problem is for me is for him to "loose the posse".

I didn't need the Snoop Dog introduction or the Anthony Anderson MC or the obvious hog appearance by Little Jon. Nor the 'props' and cameras in the faces of to the audience members "Da Brat" or "Andre 3000". It's nice they came out to support him but know this: Mr. Williams is just fine on his own. Let him be like the great comics who had an HBO spotlight before him, come out and just do your thing.

Once Mr. Williams gets going, his material is hilarious. It's raw as a street pimp's would be, so be prepared for every other word being the "n" word, cursing, racial differences and making references to drugs. If you take out all the expletives and "n" words, would he still be funny? Yep, he would. But a pimp would not speak to you in a conversation all prim and proper - would he, if he would speak to you at all. The best part of his persona and routine for me is his total dislike of Michael Jackson -- and why. You just knew he was serious about his convictions and that would give you food for thought.

So who is Katt Williams? Katt Williams is someone who gives you food for thought in his pimp persona. What will the pimp talk about in Part 2? Funny thing is, I would like to know.

Live From Atlanta
view_and_review1 February 2022
Katt Williams was introduced by Anthony Anderson. This was back when Anthony was a little bit bigger boned. Katt walked on stage with about four women while he wore an oversized fur coat and a Fedora with a goblet in his hand. He very much embodied the stereotypical image of a pimp.

He did a forty minute set touching on many things. His funniest jokes were about needed white friends, Black friends, and Latino friends. He gave some time to current affairs, namely Martha Stewart and Lil' Kim going to prison and Michael Jackson not going to prison. Then he really went in on Michael Jackson. It was funny, fun, and concise which kept the jokes strong and the people laughing.
