Corruption in high places.

Rebus has to deal with his failing car, and a bizarre case if suicide, after a man walks into the office of an investment banker, and commits suicide.

It's a classy production, one that sees Ken Story at his best as Rebus, the gruff Detective is forced to take on the powers that be, and battle distractions in his quest for the truth.

You see some very affluent parts of the great City, as well as some of the more ordinary parts, it looks great.

This is a very well written story, it's nicely plotted, and the acting is top notch, I can imagine that is how they were able to assemble such a cast, the likes of Anna Chancellor, Roy Marsden and Pip Torrens are all terrific.

It did make me chuckle that his boss seemed to have a different hairstyle in almost every scene, it's quite funny.

Impressive, 9/10.

Warning: Spoilers
A man walks in the office of an investment company and blows his own head off.

Although there does not seem to be any connection between the dead man and Andrew Hammill the head of the investment company.

Rebus finds a link to a chemical company building a plant in Scotland that will provide employment opportunities and some testing done in Angola that left children dead.

The investment bank could be left exposed, if this became public knowledge. Rebus is upset that an ex employee of the investment company, Amanda Morrison is also found dead. Rebus also faces pressure to hold back on the investigation.

This was a better episode with just about everybody being despicable including some in the police.

Hammill was too obvious a bad guy being an investment banker who tries to rile Rebus. It is all by the numbers. Rebus has an affair with Amanda Morrison so you know she will end up dead and she will have skeletons in her cupboard.
