possible theory as to what is going on
jpuryear-117 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The show has a bit more violence than I am use to, however the plot has me hooked. Heroes reminds me of Highlander with a twist. In Highlander, Duncan would end up killing/beheading the rival and taking that person's power/life experiences in the process, because in the end, "there can be only one" of these special immortal people.

Sylar has been a mystery up to this point. He killed the professor (Chandra Suresh) , a family in LA, taking at least one brain that I remember. Then at the police station Sylar tried to get the surviving family's little girl, but Matt stopped Sylar by shooting him. Sylar regenerated himself and jumped up and away. I theorize that Sylar kills people with his mind and then eats their brains to absorb their abilities. He then killed the waitress because he needed the ability to learn things faster like languages, etc. This ability would open him up to travel anywhere in the world and learn the language and culture there. He is now after the cheerleader because she can not die.

If Sylar has this ability, to not be killed, along with the other abilities, he could rule the world. He would be invincible. That is why "if you save the cheerleader , you save the world." Peter Petrelli is also a key figure who has not been highlighted as much. He temporarily absorbs the powers of the person he is with, i.e. Isaacs' painting prophetic paintings or his brother's ability to fly. If Peter can get close to Sylar, it is possible Peter could turn this ability Sylar has on Sylar to defeat him. It seems that Sylar can sense the special abilities of these people, as he tracks them down, so if Peter is close to Claire, it may confuse Sylar long enough for the other Heroes to protect Claire.

Just some rambling thoughts....

Heroes: Seven Minutes to Midnight offers some details on some characters
tavm14 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Before I recount this week's plot, let me mention that last week Matt had tried to help a man whose wife was in a hospital bed. This man had the power to burn things and may have accidentally killed his wife. Okay, now to this week's story. Mohinder is back home in India to renew his life there as he attends a memorial for his father. His ex-girlfriend is there to offer him a job at a company she works for. He thinks it over as he looks at his father's things and thinks back to some events of his life. Or rather dreams them as he sees his father talking to his mother about a "she" that Mohinder can't compare to. He later asks the mother who this "she" is. She mentions it is his sister who died when he was two. She also mentions that the father thought she was special. Also in Mohinder's dreams is a boy who keeps pointing him to other events in his father's life that we'll go back to later. Meanwhile, in Texas, Hiro and Ando have stopped at a diner where they meet a pretty waitress who has an uncanny memory. Also in the diner is a man with a watch who is very mysterious. In L.A., Matt and his F.B.I. partner are cross-examining Ted, the one who killed his wife. As Matt reads his mind, he starts telling Ted about things that happened to him that also happened to Ted. Before Matt can get further however, Ted gets arrested. It's about this time we find out Matt was suspended for a month for hitting the man who seduced his wife. Back in Texas, Issac wakes up in a building that Claire's dad and Eden work at. Claire's dad tells Issac about how, for the last 14 years, he's searched and found various people with special abilities, and how some of them met tragedy like Claire's bio-parents. He wants Issac to paint another future event but without heroin, Issac is blocked. He convinces Eden to persuade Issac to use drugs again since she has the power. So Issac paints again while drugged. At the diner, after Hiro and Ando make their order, the waitress goes in back to open a can when she gets killed from behind. As her body is discovered, the mysterious man with the watch disappears. He also turns up in Mohinder's dreams as the boy in them points to this man killing his father. This boy then offers him a key. Mohinder finds this key in his father's book. He uses it to open a cabinet. Among the items found there: the boy's picture. As Matt confronts his wife about her affair with the guy he punched, he gets a call from his F.B.I. partner as she is surrounded by cars on fire. She tells him Ted is gone. Finally, Hiro decides to go back in time to save the waitress and promises Ando he'll be back in five seconds. Ando counts the time and Hiro is still not there. But the photo on the bulletin board which previously depicted the waitress at a party alone now has Hiro with her...Wow, we're now finding out about Mohinder's and Claire's family as well as Claire's father purpose. The waitress may be an important person in Hiro's life. And Matt may be able to help Ted and maybe himself. A bit slow going drama-wise but still intriguing. Can't wait till next week...

The One With The Diner In Texas...
taylorkingston9 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode. I really loved it because Charlie, and Sylar come into the show, two characters whom I love.

In this episode, Mohinder is back in India, mourning the death of his Father, while he has mysterious dreams, that he desperately wants answers to. Meanwhile, Hiro, and Ando stop in at a diner in Texas, where they meet Charlie, a lovely waitress, who has her own special ability. She can remember basically everything, and learn everything instantly. But then unfortunately, Sylar strikes again, and kills Charlie. This devastates Hiro, so he goes back in time to save her. Noah Bennet, and Eden focus on trying to get Isaac to paint something that will help save Claire at Homecoming. And Matt, and Agent Audrey interrogate a man who has the ability to be a nuclear bomb, and learns that he, and Matt were both taken by the same people.

First appearance of: Charlie.

First appearance of: Sylar (where we actually see his face).

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

Chapter Eight 'Seven Minutes to Midnight'
Prismark1014 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Finally the audience gets a glimpse of Sylar.

He is in a diner in Texas and so is Hiro and Ando.

It might be that Hiro is in danger but Sylar is after Charlie Andrews. The waitress who remembers all kinds of facts. She even impresses Hiro with her knowledge of Japanese.

In this episode we also get to see a bit more about Mr Bennett. He knows Claire is in danger and will do anything to save her. Even pump drugs to Isaac Mendez.

Eden his associate who deliberately was close to Suresh, also seems to have abilities, the powers of suggestions.

Mohinder Suresh ended up back in India and gets visions that his father might have been murdered and the culprit was Sylar.

It really is now Sylar as the big bad. You really feel bad when Charlie is killed, it was such a sweet performance from Jayma Mays.

I really hope that Hiro can go back in time and save her. I'm not sure he has quiet got to grips with his powers to bend time though.
