- There is a creature in Super Mario Galaxy that many viewers reported as extremely frightening and actually mentally prevented them from finishing the game as kids. The creature appears out of caves and eats everything in its way for a certain distance, the creature can also swim freely, but shorter. The creature only appears in water. The game should really be rated 7+.
- Rosalina's storybook may be upsetting to some.
- This is probably the darkest Mario game to date (next to "Super Paper Mario", "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Luigi's Mansion"), mostly because of the dark atmosphere, frightening imagery and surprisingly emotional storyline.
- There is ominous music in some boss battles.
- Some hard levels/parts some players may find very frustrating.
- This game is somewhat more dark than other Mario games.
- The beginning and the character bowser may be frightening to young viewers.
- During a fight with one of the baby piranha plants, the creature initiates a cry that sounds like a cross between a baby crying and the screeching of a monster. May slightly disturb younger players. When the lava planet of bowsers galaxy exproded, the massive blackhole appeared and start sucking things in.

Frightening & Intense Scenes
- At the end, Bowser's planet explodes and creates a black hole. Just when it might be the end, the Luma's decide to sacrifice themselves to save Mario, Peach, and the Galaxy. This scene is considered very emotional, sad, and intense, even in a kid's game. However, Rosalina tells Mario that the Luma's turn into cosmos and are reborn after death.
- Kamek blasting Mario into space and the Luma escaping at the last second to go rescue him may upset some viewers.
