Tailor's dreams come truth
shortye30 July 2007
This documentary follows a tailor as he visits customers and old friends throughout Europe. Known by his customers as Mike from Bangkok, the title character dreams of becoming a Bollywood actor and visiting Zürich, Switzerland where one of his favourite Bollywood movie was filmed.

Filled with many funny and heart-felt moments in airports and reunions with friends as well as strangers from hotels and streets, this documentary lets viewers get an inside look of who Mike is and how he overcame various hardships with his family to becoming a successful tailor.

A few memorable and funnier moments is when Mike, ever the businessman, keeps a lookout for new businesses. Everywhere he went he would ask people if they need or know someone in need of a new suit. Even a cleaning lady couldn't escape his claws.

It's a feel good documentary which at the end, inspires us to keep dreaming and reminds us that dreams do come truth.

Warning: Spoilers
i saw this film at the kassel documentary & videofest, and loved every second of it.

the idea for the film, to follow an Indian tailor -mike - from bangkok, going to europe to call his old customers - who once left their business cards - and see if they would like a new suit, is very interesting. more so because mike always wanted to be a bollywood star, without going through the mill of doing auditions.

so now he stars in a film about himself, developing the plot as he makes his calls and goes to visit his clients.

there is another thread running through the film, which is for mike to visit the swiss alps like they do in Indian films about honeymooning. (this will be explained during the film.)

anyway, a great film. go and see it if it calls at your local cinema.
