Albert claims the iconic ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz (1939) "sold at auction for 2 million bucks". This is true, however, in actuality 4 pairs of ruby slippers were used in the film, with one pair (called "#7 Judy Garland", also known as the "Witch's Shoes") believed to be used for close-ups. That pair did in fact fetch $2 million at auction. As they are in the best condition and are certified authentic, they are estimated to be worth $3 million, though that amount has never been paid for them. They were purchased by a group organized by Leonardo DiCaprio, then donated to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for display in their museum. Also purchased at auction: one of the cowardly lion costumes, which sold for $3.1 million, and the most well-preserved blue gingham dress, which sold for $1.56 million.
Filmed on location in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, this is the first Hustle episode to be filmed outside of the UK and to use primarily US actors, save for the regular cast.
The Hollywood Sign Commission is fictional, as in reality the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce oversees the sign's maintenance. (The episode contains a joking reference to the Chamber of Commerce). However the episode is correct that one needs special permission to get close access to the sign.
