“Isolation,” a horror anthology film, has finished its principal photography shooting entirely in quarantine.
The film weaves together nine standalone, yet interconnected, horror stories from all corners of the world. It follows people as they confront their biggest fears in attempts to survive an increasingly deadly pandemic, a premise that hits close to home for many people during the coronavirus crisis.
The teams of filmmakers on the project include Dennie Gordon; Larry Fessenden; Bobby Roe (“The Houses October Built”); Andrew Kasch (“Tales Of Halloween”); Zach Passero (“Wicked Lake”) and Christian Pasquariello (“Alien Invasion: S.U.M. 1”). The anthology will also showcase new voices in horror with films by Alexandra Neary (“The Innocent”), Alix Austin and Keir Siewert (“Retch”), and Kyle I. Kelley and Adam Brown (“The Music Lesson”).
For “Isolation,” producer Nathan Crooker created a fictional world set many months in the future that is based around the coronavirus pandemic.

Horror director Lucky McKee's (The Woman) next project is titled All Cheerleaders Die. This film fan knows McKee to bring gender conflict to some of his films. McKee's The Woman was controversial for its portrayal of a fictional feral women and her male captors. His latest pits the girls against the boys, or the cheerleaders against the football team. McKee's All Cheerleaders Die is sure to unsettle most horror fans. And, this film stars Caitlin Stasey (Tomorrow, When the War Began), Brooke Butler (Retribution) and Sianoa Smit-McPhee. The film's story was a collaboration between McKee and writer Chris Sivertson (Wicked Lake). All Cheerleaders Die has recently been picked up for distribution in the United States by Image Entertainment. As well, this film will show at the American Film Market in November of 2013. Here, the title will screen for other territories. The film begins with a rebellious new cheerleader, named Maddy (Stasey). Maddy's -ex-girlfriend,...

In a follow-up to our August 31st exclusive chat with Jake Kennedy, the filmmaker passed us word last night that his short film Backtrack 2.0 has now made its online debut, and you can see it right here!

I have submitted it into all the genre festivals and am waiting to hear back from most at this point, but it's been accepted into four so far, and both my lead actors are up for multiple awards.”

Osama Bin Laden is back. Except, this time, he's a zombie in the indie horror film Osombie. No, we're not making this up.
The film is currently in post-production and a trailer has been released. Surprisingly, the production value is fairly solid and it approaches the material with a straight face. Eve Mauro co-stars; you might remember her from Wicked Lake. And Corey Sevier, of the upcoming Apartment 1303, is the leading man who finds every chance to tear off his shirt. Behind the camera is director John Lyde.
After the jump, find a full synopsis and the trailer itself.

It’s been a while since we last reported on the slasher flick Sorority Party Massacre, but fear not! We hit the Simi Valley, California, set in early December, 2011, to not only witness a mock hanging and a bevy of scantily-actresses sunbathing but also chat with co-director Chris Freeman and one of the film’s stars, scream queen Eve Mauro. Read on for the details and extensive ocular candy!
Written and produced by Freeman (who co-directs with Justin Jones and who co-wrote last year’s feature Paranormal Incident), the slasher vs. college girls flick Sorority Party Massacre stars Kevin Sorbo, the previously mentioned Mauro (she of Wicked Lake fame, among others), Ed O'Ross, C. Thomas Howell (The Hitcher), Leslie Easterbrook (The Devil’s Rejects), Richard Moll (House), Ron Jeremy, Yvette Yates, and Tom Downey.
As for the film’s official synopsis, it reads like this: In danger of losing his badge,...

The Woman will be available on DVD/Blu-ray and VOD January 24, 2012. The Woman is gruesome horror with uncomfortably vicious themes wrapped in a nonchalant commentary about keeping the ‘little woman’ under control. This is a film you will want to add to your DVD collection and will most likely make my best horror movies of 2011 list. The Woman is directed and written by Lucky McKee (May, Red) and stars Carlee Baker (Wicked Lake), Shana Barry (Getting’ It), Marcia Bennett (Red), Angela Bettis (Carrie, May), and Sean Bridgers (Deadwood).

With director Lucky McKee’s The Woman bowing in limited theatrical release via Bloody Disgusting Selects on Friday, October 14th, Dread hit its La premiere last Thursday, October 6th, at Laemmle Sunset 5 in Hollywood, CA, and chatted with the film’s director on the red carpet along with stars Pollyanna McIntosh, Sean Bridgers, Zach Rand and Carlee Baker. We also brought back some ocular candy. Read on!
“It’s pretty crazy!” director McKee, whose previous and touted directorial efforts include the 2002 film May, 2006’s The Woods and the Masters of Horror episode "Sick Girl", said of the buzz surrounding The Woman (review here). “I’m excited. I’m amazed to be here on Sunset Boulevard. When I was in film school (at USC), we used to come here all of the time to see cool stuff.”

It centers around a bored trophy wife (Anya Monzikova) who has plans for her wealthy dull older husband (Ian Gregory) after she meets a sexy masseuse (Carlee Baker). It’s been a while since we chatted with Jake Kennedy, the man behind independent horror features Days of Darkness (2008) and Penance (2009), although regardless of the passage of time, it appears that Kennedy has not only tended dutifully to his historic Diy spirit but has also taken it to new and clever heights as witnessed by his unique approach to the financing and distribution of his latest planned feature, Reversal.
An action/thriller/horror hybrid which is slated to star Eve Mauro (Wicked Lake, The Steam Experiment), Reversal revolves around, “a young, innocent woman who awakens bound in a storage room with no memory of how she got there,” states Kennedy, “and upon her escape, she finds herself stalked by a masked stranger, and the narrative plays out in reverse.” Likening the project to a cross between The Strangers and Memento, Kennedy reveals as well that Danny Trejo (Machete) and...

While chatting last night with friend and actress Eve Mauro (she of The Steam Experiment and Wicked Lake fame), this writer was tipped off to her upcoming feature Sorority Party Massacre, scheduled to shoot in and around Los Angeles and its surrounding environs this December and coming January.

With Cinetel Films’ remake of the infamous 1978 rape-revenge film I Spit on Your Grave hitting theaters unrated on October 8th courtesy of the rather ballsy Anchor Bay Entertainment, this writer hit the film's red carpet premiere last night in Hollywood, CA, and brought back some ocular candy as well as interviews with some of the principals...and a rather interesting bit of news.
Although I Spit is credited as being penned by one ‘Stuart Morse’, while speaking to friend Adam Rockoff (author of the erudite tome Going to Pieces: The Rise and Fall of the Slasher Film and screenwriter of the Fever Dreams’ flick Wicked Lake), we came to find that both are one and the same.

Along with providing info on a few more auctions that have been put together in support of “Bowling for Boobies”, we're pleased to announce that self-avowed horror nerd, artist and "Deadly Dame" Micheline Pitt has joined Dread Central's The Horror Starlets bowling team!
Before we get to the new auctions, here's a little info on Micheline:
While working for Pinup Girl Clothing, Micheline Pitt discovered that there was nothing out there in the way of alternative clothing lines that truly excited her. Sure, there were lots of great things, but nothing that suited her ideas. Thus, "Deadly Dames" was born! Micheline decided to join forces with her boss and now business partner Laura Byrnes of Pinup Girl Clothing. Micheline wanted to make clothes for every girl, and "Deadly Dames is what happens when you mix doll clothes with '50s sex kittens and, well, possibly John Waters... My clothes are...

This writer is just back from a set visit to the currently-shooting Sony Pictures’ production Hostel Part III in Detroit, Michigan, and while press is currently under embargo on that film (rest assured, we’ll have the goods for you as soon as it’s lifted!), we did speak with the film's FX make-up head Bob Kurtzman, who gave us the lowdown on Hostel Part III as well as on the recently-wrapped The Woman.
Directed by Lucky McKee and starring Angela Bettis (May), Sean Bridgers ("Justified"), Pollyana McIntosh and Carlee Baker (Wicked Lake), The Woman (which is a sequel to the Jack Ketchum-inspired Offspring) revolves around the titular character, who is the last surviving member of a feral, nomadic clan who is pursued by a local hunter - whose perverted intention is to capture and ‘break’ the woman.
Kurtzman, whose company Precinct 13 provided make-up FX for that film as well,...

Zach Passero, director of the 2008 Fever Dreams/Media Blasters feature Wicked Lake, has given Dread Central the skinny on the release plans for his director's cut of that feature. Hitting Blu-Ray on June 29, 2010, the disc will contain the original cut with the director's cut (titled Wicked, Wicked Lake) as a bonus that will feature an introduction by the filmmaker.
While the packaging will (sadly, in this writer’s estimation) remain the same, here’s a breakdown of the disc’s special features.

I’m a little disturbed because I didn’t think that the new Penance clip on Shock Till You Drop was “the most outrageously brutal scene in movie history.” Is it because I’m a horrible person who should be put down or because I don’t have a penis? I know all guys squirm at stuff like that and I don’t blame them, but this clip was rather boring to me. Penance, directed by Jake Kennedy (Days of Darkness), stars Marieh Delfino (Jeepers Creepers 2) and Eve Mauro (Wicked Lake) as strippers who get invited to a private party which happens to be hosted [...]

Days of Darkness director Jake Kennedy's latest endeavor Penance is now available on DVD and he was kind (?!) enough to pass along what's being touted as "the most outrageously brutal scene in movie history." Is it? Judge for yourself by clicking on the player below and watch leading man Graham McTavish perform a bit of self mutilation that would make Ellen Page in Hard Candy grin. Marieh Delfino ( Jeepers Creepers 2 ) and Eve Mauro ( Wicked Lake ) also star. They play a pair of strippers who get invited to a private party unaware that it's presided over by a maniac (McTavish). The clip tells you how and where you can obtain Penance , so hang in there.

Sin City is suddenly becoming a genre town. The Blacklist Film Festival brought their indie flavor to Las Vegas; Live Evil hit the Sci-Fi Center; and the Fangoria Trinity Of Terrors took over The Palms.

Fever Dreams and Media Blasters have a new anthology on the way that we're pretty stoked for around here. That's right, kids, come October 27th you'll be able to dig your claws deep into your pockets and offer up some dough to pay John Carchietta and Carl Morano's Late Fee.
Synopsis
It's Halloween eve and a young couple - Boy (J.D. Brown) and Girl (Stephanie Danielson) - are desperate for something to do. They find an out-of-the-way DVD store just as it’s closing for a private party.
They beg the proprietor (Rick Poli) to let them rent some DVDs and ask for the "scariest" movies in the store. The store owner reluctantly rents them his two most prized horror films on the strict condition that they return them before midnight or pay the severe late fee penalty.
The couple settle in at home and proceed to watch the movies.
