adventure in andaman ...
mysonamartya29 December 2017
Among the top Bengali directors Tapan Sinha is an exception when it came to making films on travel and discovery, adventure and suspense. We have seen TS handling the genre again and again in films like ATITHI, NIRJAN SAIKATE, SAFED HAATHI, BAIDURJER RAHASYA, ANTARDHAAN, ATANKA and this one among others ... SABUJ DEEPER RAJA was a film based on the famous sleuth 'Kakababu' penned by Sunil Gangopadhyay. The central role of Kakababu was played by Samit Bhanja quite convincingly. The beauty of the Andaman and Nicobar islands was wonderfully captured by the lens of the Cameraman in this film. The storyline I felt was a big letdown with fantastical elements of a miraculous optical power source among the tribal, crooks in pursuit of it, disappearing foreigners and a forgotten freedom fighter Talukdar resembling Aurobindo Ghosh. The supporting cast includes Biplab Chaterjee, Ramen Rai Chaudhuri, Kalyan Chaterjee and others. Rating: 2.8 out of 5

"Kakababu.. shot in Andaman and Nicobar Islands"
smkbsws16 September 2020
First ever Kakababu adaptation, the fictional adventurer created by Sunil Gangopadhyay; later, stalwarts like Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Prasenjit played this role. One of the earlier escapades among Indian films' story of those days. The lead and the villains - yes, they are 'villains' - did well. But the assistant and the king kind of sucked. I can understand the lack of special effect for the king, but the worst representation of 'Sontu' cannot be forgiven. And yes, this is one of the very few movies shot in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

All time Favourite Adventure Bengali Movie...
boka-banalam8 June 2011
Warning: Spoilers
A master piece work by Tapan Sinha......One of the best Bengali film for young minds and teen agers too.....Depending on the story of Sunil Ganguly-Tapan Sinha made this movie. The story is good and the acting of Samit Vanj as Kakababu is also wonderful...The film is made with a lot of care and you can see various beautiful outdoor places in the movie. Most of the shooting has been done in Andaman, Pore Blair etc...I must say that the ending of this movie is also quiet unexpected and quiet good.Evey one should watch this movie...In 1920's a freedom fighter escaped from the cellular jail of Andaman...he made a small boat and reached to an island of 'Jaroa' tribal..Galaxies of years ago, a meteor fall in the island and it had some unique powers..the fire of this meteor can never be extinguished...scientist from all over the world is eager to find it......(Watch the remaining , from the movie...)

BEST KAKABABU FILM till now.
MandalBros-57 March 2021
The most positive thing I want to say about this film is that it is the first feature film based on KAKABABU & and was directed by The Great Tapan Sinha. I think this was the perfect story that can be adapted into a film very nicely. First half is little slow but second half is very thrilling.

This film is full of adventure, also funny and at the same time a perfect patriotic film. I just loved Biplab Chatterjee in this film. The climax is Great, you'll be hooked on your seat in the climax sequence. Nowadays with so many technology Kakababu stories aren't portrayed very well in film, in the other hand this film without so many budget & technology is still considered the BEST KAKABABU FILM till now.
