- Haji and Saya visit an old burned down mansion. Saya learns more about her past there as well as who Haji actually is and how he came to be what he is now.
- Saya and Haji have made it to The Zoo, the place where Saya was born and grew up as the adopted daughter of Joel Goldschmidt I. As they walk through the grounds on the way to the mansion, Saya flashes back to when she first met Haji. Haji was about 10 years old when Joel first brought him to The Zoo to be Saya's companion. Saya was rough on Haji at first, but when she learned that Haji was not there willingly and had, in fact, been purchased for her, Saya came to be more gentle and kind to him, even teaching Haji to play the cello and eventually coming to care deeply for him.
As the years passed, it was obvious to both Saya and Haji that Haji was maturing whereas Saya did not seem to age. Haji also noticed that Saya's wounds healed almost instantaneously and that she required regular transfusions of blood, which was harvested from the servants. When Haji asked Joel about these things, Joel informed him only that Saya needs blood to live and that he doesn't know why Saya is the way she is.
Then, one afternoon as it was getting close to Joel's birthday, Saya asked Haji if he would climb down a cliff to pick a red lily so that she could give it to Joel as a present. Ever obedient to Saya's wishes, Haji scaled the steep cliff, but he slipped and fell to the ground below. Saya raced down to him, but his blood was spilling out under him in great quantities. Knowing that lost blood must be replaced, Saya slit her palm and fed some of her blood to Haji. Almost immediately, Haji went into convulsions, but he survived. From that day, Haji ceased to age, too.
Saya also remembers a large fire at the mansion that killed a lot of people. Standing at the foot of a high tower, she remembers hearing a song coming from the tower. When she shouted up to the singer and asked if they could be friends, a blue rose came floating down. Saya now realizes that the singer was her little sister Diva. Suddenly, Solomon steps out from behind the tower. "Yes, you and Diva are indeed blood relatives," he says. "You could say you are our mother and our lover. Are you starting to remember now, Saya?"
