"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" Philadelphia (TV Episode 2007) Poster

Mariska Hargitay: Detective Olivia Benson

Quotes

  • Elliot Stabler : [to Olivia]  Liv, what is it? Tell me.

Olivia Benson : My long-lost brother is Simon Marsden. He might be a rapist. Like father, like son.

    Elliot Stabler : Maybe there's a mistake.

Olivia Benson : He's stalking women, Elliot. That's why the cops are looking at him. Just a matter of time before he hits.

Elliot Stabler : Did you see Marsden?

Olivia Benson : I talked to his girlfriend. She's scared. She stonewalled me.

Elliot Stabler : Well, look, maybe you should go talk to him.

Olivia Benson : And say what? "Hi, I'm Olivia. Your dad raped my mom?" And, "oh, I found you 'cause I illegally ran my DNA?" I wish I never went looking.

Elliot Stabler : You had to find out, Liv.

Olivia Benson : Last night, watching him in that window playing with that little boy I wanted to be part of a family so much. I've been alone my whole life. I'm sorry, I'm whining.

Elliot Stabler : You're not. Family is everything.

  • Olivia Benson : [to Stabler]  What are you doing here?

Elliot Stabler : Trying to stop you from doing something really stupid. You find your brother, but that's not enough. You gotta stalk him?

Olivia Benson : This is none of your business.

Elliot Stabler : Yeah, it is. We're partners.

Olivia Benson : Not on this. This is personal.

  • Captain Julia Millfield : [to Olivia]  Thought you'd want to know, our stalker finally popped his cherry. Raped one on his targets, Donna Leonte.

    Olivia Benson : When?

Captain Julia Millfield : Tonight, of course.

    Olivia Benson : What time?

Captain Julia Millfield : She hasn't said. She's so traumatized, she doesn't even know what day it is.

Olivia Benson : Well, she better remember 'cause up until 3 hours ago, your prime suspect was in my apartment.

Captain Julia Millfield : Doing what exactly?

  • Donald Cragen : Okay, we've got four victims, two perps and no case. And that is piss-poor.

Olivia Benson : If the victim won't talk...

Donald Cragen : It's your job to make them talk. A job you used to be able to do.

Olivia Benson : What does that mean?

Donald Cragen : You could've had these creeps red-handed, you blew it.

John Munch : Captain, there was only four of us. All Central park, mistakes can happen.

Donald Cragen : Yeah, if your heads are so far up your asses, you can't tell East from West.

Elliot Stabler : You got a problem with us? Just say it.

Donald Cragen : I listened to the radio tapes. It was amateur night out there.

Elliot Stabler : Well, maybe you need a new squad.

Donald Cragen : Maybe I need detectives who care about the job.

Elliot Stabler : Now you're questioning our commitment?

  • Simon Marsden : [to Olivia]  Detective Benson?

Olivia Benson : How do you know where I live?

Simon Marsden : I followed you from the precinct.

Olivia Benson : You're good at following women, aren't you?

  • Simon Marsden : [to Olivia]  All right, you're 10 years old. Strawberry or chocolate ice cream?

    Olivia Benson : Strawberry.

Simon Marsden : Captain Crunch or Cocoa Puffs?

Olivia Benson : Oh, Captain Crunch.

Simon Marsden : Really? Dukes of Hazzard or Little House on the Prairie?

    Olivia Benson : Dukes.

Simon Marsden : Quarters or anchorman?

    [Olivia laughs]

  • Simon Marsden : [to Olivia]  I never even met this woman I'm supposed to have raped.

Olivia Benson : Wrong. She goes to the pharmacy where you work.

Simon Marsden : So do hundreds of women. I didn't rape her. I asked Lucy to send you a package of photos and stuff.

    Olivia Benson : Why?

Simon Marsden : So you'd get to know me better.

Olivia Benson : Being cute with Captain Crunch isn't gonna make a difference. Why don't you try facing who you really are?

  • Dr. Rebecca Hendrix : [to Olivia]  If you had to choose between saving your partner and saving a member of public, which would you do?

    [Olivia doesn't respond]

    Dr. Rebecca Hendrix : Olivia?

Olivia Benson : Yeah. I'm done.

    [leaves the room]

  • Olivia Benson : [to Simon]  I work sex crimes, remember? I deal with rape victims, rapists...

    Simon Marsden : I'm not a rapist.

Olivia Benson : Well, I don't know what to tell you 'cause it all adds up. The stalking incidents, Donna Leonte and now Carrie Millfield where it all started?

  • Olivia Benson : [to Simon]  Why don't you just admit it? You're a rapist like your father.

Simon Marsden : No, I am not like my father. I swear to you, Olivia. I swear. You know me.

Olivia Benson : How can I know you?

Simon Marsden : You knew I was out there, and you came looking for me. That's how you found me. You know, I could never lie to my big sister. I could never lie to you. Never.

  • Elliot Stabler : [to Olivia]  Captain Millfield's sister went to school with your brother? Did Marsden say anything?

Olivia Benson : I don't think he ever met her. I mean, how many our perps meet Cragen?

  • Olivia Benson : [to Dr. Huang]  You got it?

Dr. George Huang : Simon Marsden's juvie record. From a friend of a friend in the Bergen County prosecutor's office.

Olivia Benson : The last arrest was 17 years ago. Why is his DNA on the system now?

Dr. George Huang : From a murder investigation in Jersey city six years ago. Simon volunteered his sample with 40 other young men who live in the neigborhood.

    Olivia Benson : DNA dragnet.

Dr. George Huang : He was questioned, cleared, but thanks to some bureaucratic snafu, his sample stayed in the system.

Olivia Benson : [while reading Simon's juvie record]  Shoplifting. What did he steal?

Dr. George Huang : The file says women's clothes, lingerie...

Olivia Benson : A kid stealing women's underwear, that's not a good sign.

  • Ronnie Cavelle : [to Elliot and Olivia while looking through a photo array]  No, I already told you no. I'm not identifying anybody and I'm not testifying.

Elliot Stabler : Then more men will suffer like you.

Ronnie Cavelle : I'm just about holding my life together here. So don't try and guilt me into anything.

Olivia Benson : We know the moment victims talk about what happened is the moment they start to heal.

Ronnie Cavelle : Really? I got tested for HIV yesterday. I'm negative, except I gotta wait another month to get tested again just to make sure. It could take weeks to turn positive!

Elliot Stabler : Look, Ronnie, the probability...

Ronnie Cavelle : Screw probability! The absolute certainty is, I'm getting married in two weeks and I'm not gonna know.

Olivia Benson : You can't have that hanging over you. You've gotta tell your fiancee.

Elliot Stabler : You don't think she'll support you? You don't think she'd want to see the men who hurt you punished?

Ronnie Cavelle : Is she still gonna support me when the defense claims it wasn't rape?

Elliot Stabler : The defense can't dispute the photos of the bruises all over your body.

Ronnie Cavelle : I didn't tell you. When they were doing it... I got aroused.

Olivia Benson : Ronnie, that means nothing. The body responds automatically. It doesn't matter who's touching it.

Elliot Stabler : [while looking at a photo of Ronnie's fiancee]  Is your fiancee? The jury sees you with this beautiful woman, they're not gonna think you're gay. Look, all you've gotta do is, pick out your attackers and tell the jury what happened and you'll be putting away some real bad guys.
