- Quotes
Norman Tripper: Right, item last, oh yes, the Supafare Football Team. Mr Christian.
Mr. Christian: Thank you. Thank you very much. Now then, so far this season we're doing jolly well, uh, no draws, no goals against and we haven't lost once.
Norman Tripper: [laughs] And how many matches have we played?
Mr. Christian: Er. First one's this Saturday. Yes, and we're short of one player, a left winger. Any offers?
Hardie: Well if you want a left winger...
Norman Tripper: Oh yes, who else?
Hardie: I am prepared to play subject to overtime being paid and an agreed bonus per goal, corner kick or throw-in.
Mr. Christian: Ah, I'll bear that in mind.
Marlene: How about the women's football team, what's happened to that then?
Norman Tripper: No, no forget that, we'd never find eleven women who'd agree to wear the same outfit. Alright? Right that's it. OK off you go. Come on, move yourselves. Come on, come on. Hey and don't forget, start the day with a smile
[the team pose to smile simultaneously and sarcastically]
Norman Tripper: Oh dear, oh dear. Right, thank you very much.
It's a pretty feeble final episode, once again the gags are well delivered, but poorly written, you can't fault the efforts of the cast, Rossiter in particular is great, but up against it with the script. The final scene with the clock was mildly amusing.
This marks the end of the show as Rossiter had sadly passed away, the show would return as Slinger's Day, with Bruce Forsyth, I'll have to check it out.
Edwin Richfield is pretty funny as Mr Higgingbottom, Jeanette Charles was the spitting image of The Queen, and was well known for appearing as her, a true lookalike.
Not great, but watchable, 5/10.
