It connects

Was not sure as to whether "Love Disconnection" would completely work, though the potential was definitely there. The title is a great and clever one and the story ideas for both segments sounded very promising. Buster and/or Babs-centric episodes are nearly always winners and they are two of 'Tiny Toon Adventures' best characters, this time it's Babs on her own with two other characters. Elmyra-centric segments have been known though to not do much for me and Elmyra herself is somewhat hit and miss.

Fortunately, "Love Disconnection" was a surprisingly terrific episode. Was worried that it would be an episode where one segment would be brilliant and the other rather mixed. Actually, the two segments (called "My Dinner with Elmyra" and "The Amazing Three") were both winners and there is not a disconnect in quality, the theme also connects together very well. There is a slight preference for "The Amazing Three", which was funnier and more inspired, but what could have been an episode of two halves turned out to be consistently terrific.

"My Dinner with Elmyra" could have been too cute and too corny, with not an awful lot funny. Actually, it did avoid cutesiness, has a nice wacky liveliness and has funny dialogue and gags. Personally got the biggest kick from that hysterical film title for Montana Max's least favourite film, seriously 'The Adventures of Fido and Mewmew' is a scream of a title and not the sort of film one would want to see willingly. Montana Max has grown on me overtime as a character and Elmyra is not obnoxious. The chemistry between her and Max charms.

Even better is "The Amazing Three". Have always loved Babs as a character and this is a segment that plays to her personality, which is a very strong and versatile one, brilliantly. Fifi and Shirley are entertaining too here, especially Shirley who has the best moment. The chemistry between the three sizzles. The story is worthy of classic Looney Tunes at its best and the energy is constant without being too much. The writing is razor sharp witty and at its best hilarious. The highlight of "The Amazing Three", and the whole of "Love Disconnection" for that matter, is when Shirley flies into a rage that is a truly inspired spoof of 'Carrie'.

The animation is very vibrant, richly detailed and with smooth and sometimes bold (namely the expressions) drawing. The music is hip and infectiously character and the theme song will never stop being a classic, has yet to get old. The dialogue constantly brought such a smile to my face, was smart and witty and made me laugh frequently, delivered by immensely talented voice actors (some of the most prolific and at the time some of the best too) in their element. Tress MacNeille again shows off her versatility.

Concluding, terrific. 9/10.
