Sandwich Day (#2.14)
ComedyFan201024 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
And things go on.

Jack has to deal with the turn of events about his lost promotion. The scenes of him at the hospital trying to get Geiss to wake up from the coma are great acting. And Jonathan singing to Jack when he lives was a funny moment, I kind of like his crush on Jack. Alec Baldwin was awesome in this episode.

And Liz deals with Floyd coming to New York. Tina Fey was so beautiful in the red dress scene! And the best moment was her running after Floyd in the airport and still take time to eat that great sandwich in less than a minute. She sure can have it all!

The crew all getting drunk to win that sandwich for Liz was funny as well. Even Kenneth participated

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia

Warning: Spoilers
Here Liz's former flame Lloyd (Jason Sudeikis) makes a guest appearance. I love the Brady Bunch, Marcia, Marcia, Marcia reference and the football! Love it! Anyway, Jack's been relegated to the 12th floor and winds up taking a job with the Bush Administration. Will he stay?

I look forward to the season 2 finale to see if Jack comes back.

Sandwich Day is another very funny episode of "30 Rock"
tavm12 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In a nutshell: Jack has been reduced to talking to the comatose Geiss and working on the 12th floor, Liz finds out from Jenna and Pete about a surprise phone call from Floyd who's flight back to Cleveland has been delayed, this being Sandwich Day-Tracy, Frank, and Lutz take the one the absent Liz left on her desk and, after Liz threatens to give them all chins, go to the teamsters' office (led by Brian Dennehy) and get challenged to a drinking contest-with Jenna in tow-to get this unique one with a special sauce back to her, and Geiss' daughter has trouble opening the women's rest room door (she pushes when it's supposed to be pulled)...Lots of hilarious stuff happens here like when Liz says she wants to be Marcia for once instead of Jan just before something hits her on the face, Liz looking fabulous in front of Floyd just as Pete instructs a crew member to hit the wind fan, and...well, you'll have to just watch the episode. With one more episode to go this season, 30 Rock is firing on all cylinders. I can't wait to find out if Liz is pregnant or not next week! So until then...

The Michael Clayton of Cleveland
MaxBorg8929 October 2008
Following the dramatic twist of Succession, the second-to-last episode of 30 Rock's second season insists on keeping things believably silly, with the outcome being the usual twenty minutes of great television.

With Don Geiss in a coma and his mentally challenged daughter running GE (courtesy of the untrustworthy Devon Banks), Jack can't do anything besides working on the 12th floor and hoping the old man wakes up to confirm the job belongs to him. As for Liz, she has to deal with two problems: her sandwich being stolen (it's Sandwich Day) and the staff being forced to make a deal with the teamsters to get another one if they want to keep breathing, and the unexpected return of Floyd (Jason Sudeikis), who was in town on business and still has some time before heading back to Cleveland (classic scenario: his plane was delayed).

Sudeikis, who's been absent from the show since the Season 1 finale, makes a welcome return and provides the opportunity for plenty of witty conversations with Tina Fey, always at her best when dealing with Liz's love problems (and the Emmy she won for this season is a fitting tribute to her talent in those scenes), but the most unusual (and somewhat morbid) laughs come from the sight of Rip Torn's lifeless body while Jack, on the brink of desperation, begs him to wake up. A superb build-up to what promises to be one heck of a finale.

Floyd
bronsonhatch9 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The only reason this episode isn't a 10 because we had to see Floyd leave again. Floyd and liz are soulmates fr and I'm tired of them fighting. Just love each other. Idk if he comes back in another episode but if he does, he better stay.

Another Excellent Episode!
g-bodyl30 July 2014
This is the fourteenth episode of the second season of 30 Rock and it promises we have some exciting things ahead to look forward to. This is really funny, the script is still well-written, and the jokes seem to never end. As for guest stars, Rip Torn is still here but of course after going into a coma, he has no dialogue and there is the welcome return of Jason Sudekis who we haven't seen since Season 1.

In this episode, "Sandwich Day," Jack is pleading with Don Geiss to wake up since he is trying to save his career. Meanwhile Liz is having problems of her own with it being Sandwich Day, Liz's sandwich was stolen and she wants her sandwich. Also, her ex, Floyd comes back to town.

Overall, this is another hilarious, quotable episode. I also liked the addition of Geiss's daughter. She is just so hilariously dumb. This is an excellent episode that I'm sure sets up the upcoming finale very well. I rate this episode 9/10.
