This is not a bad thriller . It has some twists and turns . It reminded me a bit of Flowers in the the Attic. Performances by the three ladies were good especially Libby Munro as the evil mother who poisons her daughter .

I don't think it was that bad but

Yes, they made some stupid choices but that's many Movies. I think if you have been abused yourself you will understand the older daughter better. I was "afraid" of setting off my mother until she passed away at 75. Well into my adult hood. I definitely found most of the actions far fetched but still enjoyed it. However, I found the mom a little goofy. Especially how they tried to age her with that gray streak. She looked like she could be their sister. And acted like a wacko. But it's based on a true story so you never know. Maybe she was that nuts. All in all it was entertaining.
Frightening

...that some viewers may actually believe the outlandish "views" (not JUST the ones related to health) being regurgitated by the mother. Sadly; the character is not unbelievable. The 21st century is teeming with people who have convinced themselves they're experts on a variety of subjects, despite having no education or training. I held off on watching this for awhile, but it did hold my attention.

I know Lifetime has movies like this but it never ceases to amaze me how they allow people to e so dumb.
So this big sister take so long to recognize that the mother was poisoning her?
And why do they always have to kill the best friend or boyfriend who finds out what was wrong and comes to help? They never let them live. So fed up of them. The movie was interesting and kept your attention but was very frustrating to me.
The mother so wants her daughters that she killed two innocent people? She became a murderer just like that? SMDH

For a low budget film this was really good! I don't know why other people are moaning as it's based on a true story! And this kind of thing does happen! I'm not gona spoil it for you, I watched this movie without any trailers or clues and I really enjoyed it. The pacing was good and throughout it makes you guess what's Gona happen next! The acting was good and it's portrays a realistic family dynamic. If you like The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, you'll like this movie.

The behavior of the mother is believable

Warning: Spoilers
The acting and the story line were good but not great. As always, I hate those reviews that don't realize this is a Lifetime movie. You should know what to expect when you see that.
Sadly, the behavior of the mother is believable. There are those that don't believe in modern medicine and view disease in abnormal ways. Just look at the attitude some people have towards COVID.
I thought the killing of the boyfriend was too formulaic. You always have the person who starts to figure out what's going on, and then the bad guy has to kill them to drag the story out a bit.

DO NOT WATCH THIS MESS.... It will FRUSTRATE you even if you have low expectations.

Warning: Spoilers
This was the stupidest movie Ive seen in a while and it will FRUSTRATE you so much because the concept could be so well done and story could be so interesting if it wasn't for the poor execution and stupid characters/script. Literally the oldest daughter made every dumb decision possible and so did her fiance. So you find this poisonous chemical in your fiance's sister's DNA and you hear all these weird stories on how the mother treats the girl even with this "rare" illness... yet when you visit their home you openly accept and drink tea from that same lady without question...and you're supposed to be a DOCTOR? You don't even have the brains to wonder why your fiance is taking so long to show up to greet you or have the brains to insist on going to get her? What a stupid guy. Same with the main actress. She saw her sister was getting worse and that her mother was acting strange and that she was also getting SICK while being there ... yet she just stays and listens to everything her mom says and even hands the mom her PHONE? What an idiot. She could have gone outside to have those phone conversations with her fiance...especially if she saw her sister getting worse and the mother's "treatments" not working. Any normal person would start getting suspicious right away and eventually call an ambulance, or at least start to suspect the mom and not talk on the phone where she can hear. Every decision she made was so dumb. Even the mom as the villain was frustrating because she was so easy to beat and outsmart, yet everyone was too dumb to even try. I wish I didn't waste my time on this but i thought the ending would be better or that someone would smarten up.
Frustrating

It frustrated me how stupid these characters were and don't get me started on how stupid the ending was. The mom kills your fiance, poisons you and your sister and suddenly you forgive her in the end? I waited and waited to see some sort of revenge back on the mom after what she did and that's all we get?? And why did the fiance eat the cookie and drink the tea after knowing the mother was giving her daughter something she shouldn't?? What an idiot.
This movie on the other hand ...

You can trust the title as much as you can trust anything most politicans say (with the prime example of the current potus, who hopefully will soon be a one time/term president) ... but enough about that, because I wouldn't be surprised if you are annoyed by political talk. The problem is, talking about the movie, its cliches and its predictabilities isn't that much better.
Yes characters have to make decisions that don't make sense in movies ... mostly to create suspense. But it's just a tiny bit too much, what the movie expects from the viewer to accept. The actors do try their best, which is why I gave it a bonus point if you want to call it that ... still most will be rather dissapointed by the whole thing ... unless you are into the drama of the week movies ...

Mommy Dearest Redux
lavatch24 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Early in "Mommy Would Never Hurt You," Riley Howell makes a bold decision to leave home, making a beeline away from the clutches of a mother she knew was toxic. Young Riley then does well for herself in starting a successful bakery and meeting an upstanding male nurse in Aiden.
A major problem with the film was the pacing in which the mother from hell, Monica Howell, is keeping her younger daughter Beth in captivity with the excuse that she needs to be isolated from the world due to Guillain-Barré syndrome. The long, drawn-out scenes in the home failed to advance the action and turned into a snooze-fest.
The most interesting character in the film was Aiden, the nurse who recognizes that Monica is doing serious harm to Beth. But when Aiden pays a visit to the home, he does not keep his guard up, and is poisoned. With Aiden out of the picture and the dazed Riley in a stupor due to poisoning, the film became more and more unpleasant.
It was never made credible that a mother could treat both of her daughters are cruelly as Monica did. The filmmakers failed to offer an explanation for the unhealthy dependence of Monica on Beth.
At least there was some gallows humor to the biopic of Joan Crawford, "Mommy Dearest." But with "Mommy Would Never Hurt You," the psychological parts of the film never added up. And Monica herself never seemed aware of her derangement even at the film's end when she was aging gracefully in the penitentiary.

Made for TV Movie

For a low budget film this was above and beyond! It will keep you interested throughout. It has a real "Hand that Rocks the Cradle" vibe. The mother was terrifying ... and the psychological chill factor was on point. This kind of evil ....truly does exist in our world ...and both sisters respectively capture the spectrum of dynamics; in family abuse situations. From loyalty to fear ... flight or fight... parental control can cripple and ripple the mind of a any child, no matter their age or success outside of the home. "Beth" (played by Micavrie Amaia) really captured the inner torture and disbelief an abused child debates within; when they truly love their parent. Most definitely worth the watch!
What a stupid movie
