It's been an unusually festive St. Patrick's Day for horror fans between the first footage of Leprechaun: Origins and Vamprechaun's IndieGoGo campaign. But this free online novel may be the strangest and most compelling of them all.

What the hell is this?

This is going to be less of a review and more of a cautionary tale. I thought I knew what I was getting into when I started reading Sixty-Five Stirrup Iron Road. It is, after all, a collaboration of nine of the hardest-hitting horror authors working in the genre today: Brian Keene, Jack Ketchum, Edward Lee, J.F. Gonzalez, Bryan Smith, Wrath James White, Nate Southard, Ryan Harding and Shane McKenzie. These are not guys known for their restraint, and when you bring them all together between the same two covers, well, let’s just say the game of one-upsmanship is taken to a whole different level. I was not prepared for some of the things I read in this book. Clearly I’m no prude (I doubt I’d be writing for Fearnet if that were the case). I’ve pounded down more than my share of horror novels.

Birthday shoutouts go to Nathan Fillion (above), who is 42, Dave Koz is 50, Fergie is 38, Mariah Carey is 43, and Jann Arden is 51. The Canadian songstress will always hold a place in my heart for giving us one the greatest singles of the pop wasteland of the 90's.

With so much fuss being made about J.J. Abrams Star Trek reboot, it's easy to forget that there is another successful franchise out there with Star... in the title. That would be Stargate, which is due for its own sort of makeover later this year with the premiere of Stargate Universe. This is no sign that the concept is struggling, though. Indeed, the slew of awards that Stargate productions won at the recent Leo Awards in Vancouver, British Columbia (the home base of CinemaSpy) shows that it continues to be admired.
The Leo Awards are presented by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of B.C.. They were established in 1998 to celebrate excellence in film and television productions that are made in the province. Stargate series and movies are largely filmed in Vancouver. At this years Celebration and Gala Ceremonies for the Leos, which took place on May 8 and...

After triumphing for two years in a row, Jake Gyllenhaal is not the winner of our third annual AfterElton.com Hot 100 poll (see the results for 2007 here and 2008 here). So which out man did take the top spot? If you’re the kind of person who always burns their mouth biting into that piping hot chocolate chip cookie, you can just cheat and go here to learn who came in first place.
Here at AfterElton.com, we’re thrilled to announce an out gay man topped this year’s list – especially this particular man as most of us voted for him as well. In fact, out gay men snagged nearly 20% of the spots, including the top three. To be sure, we’ve nothing against our straight male crushes, but it says something great about 2009 that there are so many out men to choose from.
What we find almost as interesting...

TORONTO -- Canadian producer CCI Entertainment on Monday unveiled a six-picture family film slate that includes the Chinese-Canadian co-production Iron Road, starring Peter O'Toole and Sam Neill.
Arnie Zipursky, co-chairman and CEO of Toronto-based CCI, said the move into family movies began with Iron Road, a project whose partners include Britain's Alchemy Television and China Film House, a consortium of Chinese investors led by Hengdian Studios consultant Tiger Yu.
The movie, a 19th century love story set against the building of Canada's railroad by Chinese immigrants, has just completed principal photography and also will be sold internationally as a TV miniseries. It was directed by David Wu, who began his career as John Woo's editor.
CCI also is pacting with Argentinian producer Nearly Normal Prods. to co-produce The Connor Rourke Chronicles, a series of family adventure movies that will start production in the fall on two installments, The Myth of Gaia and The Spear of Destiny.
The first two Connor Rourke titles, set for delivery in spring 2009, will be shot in Buenos Aires and follow a young woman (Connor) and her father Diego on adventures.
