Love First Take but...
bfitz-746969 January 2023
Love First Take! The commentators are great, funny & very entertaining but...please get the women off the podium. Let's get real, women have no business on this show. This is mens sports and should be discussed and commented on by men only. I'm not being bias against women because I am one. Sorry to say, I just think womens equality should not extend to "mens" sports and they look ridiculous on the podium amongst men discussing male dominated sports.

I'm sure that if there wasn't women on this show, this cry baby country would scream discrimination but there just is some "mens" jobs women dont fit in.

Show is pathetic since SKIP LEFT!
joshnoon24 November 2019
All I can say is Skip Bayless carried and invented this show and since he left this show struggles to be relevant.

Stephen A. Smith - a national treasure...
AlsExGal16 October 2020
... and I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan! Smith's commentary, especially on football - and maybe I say that because this is the sport in which I'm really interested - is very insightful. His commentary can be stinging. And he has a real gift for showmanship every time the Dallas Cowboys lose a game. He has a great supporting cast in Max Kellerman and in Will Cain, Texan and Cowboys fan.

And finally, something that may speak of Stephen A.'s talent in music more than knowledge of sports - he has come up with the only song I've heard written in the 21st century that is worth listening to - his Dallas Cowboys song - "What Can Go Wrong Will Go Wrong".

Take a Hike
Bmugz6171 October 2021
Wow this show and the host suck so bad. NBA talk in August that's entertaining.

No MLB, No College Football, No NHL. Dude makes more than most NHL players contracts. Wow...Show a disgrace to any fan who has sports knowledge.

The louder you yell the more Knowledge you have right?

Max least knew Boxing. But show was always a flop.

No Michael Irvin!
buddman-230196 September 2021
Get Michael Irvin off of the show and never have him back.

Aside from not being able to understand what Irvin is saying, half of the time, Michael is a piece of garbage as a human being. Rap sheet.

Michael Irvin should not have a job on any network, ever.

Great review by MsMolly Qerim
bcornel-9059425 January 2018
Ms Qerim made excellent points about MSU deplorable actions supporting that pedophile. The big question is what is the NCAA going to do the support of that degenerate was worse than what happened at PENN. Will this get swept aside with time because it was against young women and children and not FOOTBALL???? Ms Qerim you are to be for commended for speaking out and I pray you voice is heard, supported, and promoted by all on the ESPN staff and leadership. To me ESPN represents all that is good about sports and the staff displays many views and how people can have different viewpoints, agree to disagree, and still respect each other as people.

I don't care for it at all.
QuackQuack6 February 2020
It could be a decent show but two things literally turn me off and make me turn the show off. One is when Max Kellerman says "So and so is the best player in history, or this team is the greatest of all time." He says that a lot. Simply because they just won a game or two. Also when when Stephen A. goes on one of his screaming jive talking rants. There's no need for this and it just makes me cringe and change channels.

Good sports debate series to watch that's fun and informative and good god watch it for miss Molly!
blanbrn28 April 2016
From time to time on some afternoons when I'm working out at the gym treadmill up above on the TV screen it's often tuned to ESPN's "First Take" and it's a program that's well worth the watch! It's style is that of a discussion and open topic of debates about issues and problems and people of the sports world and all sports are covered from many players and teams. And it's fun to watch the disagreement as usually the talk and debate ends in drama and with voices being raised. The talkers are Stephen A. Smith a former radio personality who knows the sports world and Skip Bayless a former sports writer and author and both are well educated on sports and issues it's a very informative show. And yes you know that there is some eye candy treat and that is in the form of the host the beauty and exotic sexy attractive Molly Qerim good god miss Molly! She's such a treat to look at I remember when she started on the NFL Network. Well anyway during the afternoon if your a sports fan check out this show.

Molly is the only thing good here.
underscoremikecastaneda30 August 2022
Even the delightful Molly Qerim can't keep me from changing the channel on this every time. Molly needs a raise. She's basically a nanny to a sad adult toddler millionaire that gets paid to behave like an excrement orifice. And he's so good at it because that's who he actually is. I hope he gets that turned around someday.

If you like listening to a version of Howard Cossell that is less intelligent, less articulate, yet even more annoying and unwatchable then this show with Steven A is for you. He has only a basic knowledge of sports, a huge ego, a loud annoying demeanor, poor listening skills, and old school sad nutjob Jerry Springer guest communication skills. If that is what you're into then rock on brother.

LOST A LOYAL FAN
mtvernon-0156626 August 2021
I like Stephen A and Max and the chemistry they had. Even when skip was there the show was fun and informative. Now that Max is gone mostly due to Stephan A, I won't watch again ever and hope this show is taken off the air. You messed up Stephan A 😠

Love the show, but Courtney Crown is wack.
littlehaney1 July 2022
Put her somewhere else if she loves sports so much. She does not belong here. Everyone has a voice regarding sports because sports would be nothing without its fans, however her style is like a Stephen A. Or MadDog wannabe. There are so many other qualified athletes, former athletes, who have a voice. First Takes in-depth analysis is what makes it number 1. Don't dilute it; Crown gotta go.

doesn't seem realistic
ThunderKing65 February 2021
Not saying pro sports are not real like those conspiracy guys do. Because obviously, obviously like so obviously pro sports are real. These athletes are our childhood heroes. They wouldn't lie.

Anyways 1st Take seems like they are forcing there to be beef or a problem. They seem like they nitpick stuff and add charisma and intellectual dialogue to make viewers interested in a worthless problem. I can't think of any because that's how minor the problems are.

I use to respect the A Smith guy but nowadays for awhile he seems like a fire to the fuel. Takes meaningless things seriously.

The other guy I forgot his name. He acts like he knows everything and his demeanour is so serious and silly at the same time.

Overall, I'll listen to some stuff when it spams in my youtube feed, however I need to start skipping of the 1st Take.

Verdict: Your take doesn't matter.

Hilarious and headache-inducing
I'm not gonna lie - I don't follow sports closely. I watch golf and Indy racing during the spring and summer on Saturdays. I only go on YouTube to watch this when I need a laugh. And believe me, I find myself crying. I think it's so funny because women have always been labeled as hysterical and overly emotional. There's only one woman, and she's present to make sure their discussions don't spiral out of control, but they do anyway. Everybody else is a straight, cisgender male, and they are the most unbalanced, toxic, argumentative, and rudest people I've ever watched. I haven't seen a group with conversational skills this bad in a while. They shout, yell, interrupt, and talk at the same time. They're belligerent, malicious, volatile. They pick apart each other's opinions. It's completely laughable, which is why I wondered if it was even real. No one flies off the handle over a minor disagreement, unless something is seriously wrong with them, like a psychiatric disorder. I really think if they had guns, they would pull them on one another. What I never understood, is why they have a female as the moderator. You couldn't pay me all the money in the world to sit in the middle of that dysfunction. They would stress me out so bad, that once I got home, I would be reaching for a bottle of wine and drinking straight from the bottle the second I came in through the front door. This show is virtually unwatchable. If you're a serious sports fan, I would avoid.

Come on ESPN!
quockquock13 September 2023
First Take is another show on ESPN about nothing. We see an entire weekend of excellent sports, but get no highlights on Monday, or Tuesday etc.... All these guys do is talk. They make up silly debates and just talk about it. They'll say, "Can the Warriors win while Curry is recovering from an ankle sprain?" Then for 6 minutes one person will say yes they can, and another person will say, no they cannot.

It's just silly banter I'll also never understand why they are talking about basketball and trades etc.. during baseball season. It's a very biased show and whatever the topic is about is based on what Stephen A. Wants to talk about. Show some highlights!
