Not cops just hicks

I'm not sure why so many people dislike this episode. It's not a spoof of Blair Witch or anything like that. Not sure where that even came from. If anything, it's making fun of Ghost Hunters, and I think they do a great job lol. Taking everything so seriously even tiny things and even when there's nothing there . I think the ghost facers are hilarious. It's not the best episode of Supernatural but it definitely isn't terrible.

Anyone who gives this episode a bad review has no sense of humor
kenhoward-542275 July 2022
While very different from the average episode, this episode brings back some funny characters to frame Sam and Dean's story with and has a surprisingly deep climax (ha) towards the end.

This is not a Blair Witch parody
CubsandCulture8 October 2019
I find it very shocking that this episode has such a bad (relatively speaking) rating on here. It is also a bit disheartening that people think it is referencing Blair Witch (or other found footage films). It is not. The episode was inspired by the writers' strike of 2007-08 and it is mostly poking fun at unscripted reality TV. On that level it is hysterical. It is sharp; Ed and Harry are just great a comedic version of the Winchesters. The shooting style is perfectly realized and it feels like a bad reality TV show. Deans swear! But apart from that the show manages to be touching with Corbett story. The satire has a wonderful pathos in the end. Sometimes you just have go be gay for the poor dead intern.

Better than Blair Witch
buffyverse_genius27 April 2008
I have never laughed so hard and felt so creeped out in the same episode before. Actually, I don't think I've ever been that scared watching an episode of Supernatural before! I love this show, it's my absolute favorite on air right now, but it's never given me the heebee geebee's like that! I think the whole hand held camera element is what did it, because Blair Witch and all the ghost hunting reality series that this episode tips it's hat to have given me similar chills. But it was worse this time around because I'm invested in Sam and Dean's well-being (lol)! After "Bad Day at Black Rock" and "Mystery Spot" I didn't expect to laugh so hard again...least not this season, but I was pleasantly surprised! Bravo to the Supernatural team that put this gem together! Standing Ovation!

Awesome.

Warning: Spoilers
People who called this bad clearly can't comprehend the level of comedy this episode is at. The actors aren't bad, they're just good at being idiots. They're awkward, goofy and they're trying too hard to be cool and that's how they're SUPPOSED to be.

To say that the Ghost Facers actors are "bad" is such an insult. Especially to the actor that played Corbett. The pain his voice when he's being killed is so sad. Give this episode a chance and remember that these actors are not bad, their actual characters are just "acting" a bit for their own reality show.

I have seen some bad films and shows and this episode isn't one of them.

Ghost Facers

I have never watched the Ghost Hunters but I really liked the SN spin on it and perhaps the SN spin on ALL reality shows. Every time I think this show is going to "shoot a blank" it just ALWAYS delivers. It was sentimentally sweet using the character "Corbet." Loved how "Sam" talked "Corbet" through his own murder. Sort of reminded me of Joaquin Phoenix & Vince Vaughn in Return to Paradise when "Sheriff" talked "Lewis" through his execution. Damn, what an emotional scene. That Jared sure can act. Can't wait to see the final episodes of SN3 when I'm sure Jensen will blow us all away with his acting abilities. Also can't wait to see the careers these two actors will have post-SN. And the Oscar goes to...

BlairWitch/Reality TV/ Supernatural
mm-3928 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Blairwitch, Reality TV blended in with Supernatural. What did the blender make? I found the show to be funny but also annoying. There is funny parts. One gets many laughs off Dean's behavior. I found the young kids annoying, and a drag on the show. The producers had to try something new. Is Ghostfacers funny in spots yes. Is the show annoying Yes. I did not mind Ghostfacers, but I did not like it either. Maybe I have to watch the show a few more time, and it will grow on you. The parents garage part is great. The magnet part makes a lot of scene. Those Winchester boys are smart. I bet the magnet idea was Sams! 6 out of 10 I will watch the show again. I like the Amrican band song with the bad *** Impelia at the start of the show. Way cool!

Found footage spn
shwetafabm8 June 2020
First of all i really like found footage, some of my favorite horror films are found footage, cloverfield, as above so below etc it just adds this personal feel to it and with this ep we get to see the perspective of the people and not Sam and Dean, that confusion and fear is always missing in spn because we are looking at things from the eyes of two hunters that we know will likely not die (and even if they do, like it matters). I did like the return of the ghostfacers, the reality tv parody and especially Dean and Sam swearing because it fit so well, ofcourse they swear. Also Dean can be scary seriously. Spn is not scary, and ya it's difficult to make scary horror and that's even limited with spn because again protagonists are hunters not clueless scared people plus demons that should be terrifying and overpowered are continuously beaten and their mythology just not scary anymore, the scary part has been the bigger picture of losing yourself to revenge and anger and losing your soul which with Dean's thing sometimes is scary but spn does do scary with its ghost eps, those are my favorite scary eps that actually verge on scary. So this is definitely one of the scariest ones. I don't understand the negative response here especially from people that are the newest commenters, i think its brilliant.

not bad, but could be beter
Aidonian26 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
in this episode we see the two stooges from season 1 hell house or was hell hounds? Anyway, they have formed a group whom they dubbed ghostfacers. Claiming to face ghosts where everyone else (including them) runs away from. They seem to have this idea that ghosts are friendly, but are really inexperienced when it comes to deal with ghosts. They don't know that salt keeps them at bay, nor that some ghosts can be very violent. In this episode, they are hoping to cash in on the reality TV shows running rampant in the world, by bringing a new format: ghost hunting. Here the episode feels more like Diary of the Dead than the average Lost style the show has adopted. On itself it wasn't a bad episode. Seeing how the rest of season 3 has been, this was more stand alone than the rest of the season. On the other hand, we see what happens if inexperienced people try to hunt ghosts, without the necessary tools to protect themselves if something goes wrong.

What was that?
zombiehigh189 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Really what was that? Supernatural writers, If this is your idea about comedy, please reconsider. How can you do such episode after the magnificent "Jus in Bello"? and what's with the hand camera thing? it was really annoying. (OK it was a Blair Witch Project reference, but again I never liked the Blair Witch Project anyway, it's a matter of personal taste!) I know not every body would agree with me, but I didn't like it at all and the only thing that keeps me from giving it less than 5 stars on the scale of 10, is that I love this show too much to give any episode a lower rating.

Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spangler were nice on "Hell house" but they aren't the characters you really would want to bring back, for me they are one-timers. Seriously if you want one of the old guests back, I can name a dozen others right now.

Boring, disappointing and stupid, Skip this one you won't miss much.

One of my fave episodes
ladyliliroche28 November 2022
I remembered watching this episode the first time. It was such a good poke for all those ghost reality tv show.

This episode gave something different and I just love the combination of those reality tv show aspect (with the ghostfacers of all the people) with sam and dean as professional ghost hunter interacting and working together.

Also the song its my party forever hunted my mind because of this episode. That song gave me a different vibe (a horror vibe to be exact) because of this episode.

Truly i enjoyed this episode. It is one of those nice special episode that make the season not so linear.

Disappointing but good
andoni2128 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Disappointing for what we had to wait to see the new episode, there was waited a better return, something what was continuing with the history.

But the truth is that I cannot complain, go out a bit of the routine is good, is a chapter that causes surprise for the subject matter.

We are In a television world dominated by the reality shows, and this one is a good example.

Iy is very graceful when initially one refers to the scriptwriters' strike, and while the episode advances you see some parts when you really scares.

In conclusion, it neither is the supernatural's best chapter, no even close, but it is entertained, probably preparing ourselves for what comes.

A Great Deception
claudio_carvalho6 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
The goofy Hell Hounds Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spangler join a team with Maggie Zeddmore, Kenny Spruce and the gay intern Alan J. Corbett named Ghostfacers to prepare the pilot of a reality show and distribute to the major executives of the television networks. They decide to spend the night of February, 29th, in the Morton House, which is considered every four years the most haunted place in America and prepare a show. They break in the house and install their equipment; however, they meet Dean and Sam that order the group to leave the dangerous place that has death echoes inside. However an evil supernatural force locks the exits and they are all trapped inside the house. When Corbett first and Sam later vanish, Dean and the Ghostfacers seek out their friends in the basement of the house, where they fiend the lonely fiend that has captured them.

After the wonderful "Jus in Bello", this silly episode à la Blair Witch Project is a great deception and certainly the worst show of the great Third Season of "Supernatural". I do not know the intention of the producers in releasing such disconnected "cold bath" in the climax of the season. My vote is four.

Brilliant
bellapeligrosa23 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS: This reminded me so much of the occasional humorous X-Files episode, where the script was firmly tongue-in-cheek,and almost Whedon-esquire in its execution. Playing on the hand-held reality ghost-hunting TV shows like Most Haunted, Sam and Dean aren't the stars in this, but the slightly-sad Ghostfacers who get more then they bargained for when investigating a haunted house. Wonderfully inept, and full of their own bravado, they have to face their own fears and band together, even using 'gay love' to reach one of their own dead team and help him cross to the other side. I hope to see more of Dustin Milligan, who was outstanding as the doomed intern Corbett. A smart and funny piece of writing, and one of my faves.

Ghostfacers - Ghosthunters
lady_stormrider24 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
While this esp wasn't as scared as I had hope it more than make up for it with laughs.

It's the return of Harry and Ed, two want-to-be ghosthunters from Season One and this time they have their own team of ghost hunters.

It was amusing to watch how they make fun of Ghosthunters in this esp. They use many of the same tools and terms that are used in Ghosthunters Also many of the characters from the Ghostfacers team are model from the members of TAPS (Ghosthunters) Instead of a fear of spiders, you have a fear of rats.

Furthermore the esp had an almost Blair Witch Project feel to with us seeing a lot of the action through the camcorders.

There wasn't any character or plot development for Sam and Dean expect that we now know that Dean has only 2 more months before his deal is up.

It's interesting how in the end the Ghostfacers are willing to profit off of a friend's death. When the Winchester commented about it, the Ghostfacers were will to blow it off all in the name of profit.

It was interesting to see the return of Harrry and Ed and I have a feeling we'll see them again in the future.

Simply Awful
karlblomer9131 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I honestly don't even know how this made it to air. I couldn't even finish watching the episode it was that painful. A bunch of terrible actors with even worse character profiles making a mockery of what was a steadily improving show. I stuck with Supernatural even after finding Season 1 pretty dull. I had been pretty impressed with how it managed to pick up in terms of quality and content, but this is just an insult to everyone who watches this show. Please never repeat this awful, awful act of hideousness. I would strongly advise against even bothering to watch this episode, it has very little relevance to later episodes. The only familiar thing is the reappearance of the annoying kids from an episode in season one.

This episode should burn in hell!
pratikkol613 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode attempts to a Blair Witch but fail horribly. The familiar things we experience in every Supernatural episode, and I am a huge fan, are all missing here.

The dumbest of all the things are the horrible acting by the 'Ghostfacers' crew. The pseudo movie scenes in that Hollywood ghost episode was 10X better this.

One of their crew is dead and this is how they express their fake sympathies? This episode is not even a comedy. Worst part is that this comes after one of the most edge of the seat episodes of all.

Worse than the Christmas special, and that's something
daendil21 January 2018
A very bad episode. I could barely watch due to the sickening hand camera movement. The intro was just painful to endure: some totally irrelevant, annoying guys goofing around with a camera for a looong looong time. There was exactly one surprising moment for me in this episode - and I'm not going to spoil it should one decide to spend 40 valuable minutes of their lives on this crap.

Not A Real Episode, You Can Skip It
mcpuffin-166841 October 2019
I watched the first 3 seasons of Supernatural years ago and recently started watching it again. I just got to this episode today and remembered that the last time I had to skim through it to see if it turns into an actual episode of Supernatural at any point but does not. It continues on a parody of bad reality TV. It was a funny concept for the first 5 minutes but I believe was a mistake to waste an entire episode. It quickly gets boring and very unfunny. You can fully skip this episode and won't lose any of the storyline for Supernatural.
