Reminds me of early 80's quality
Hillius18 October 2020
This was a stumble upon I had never heard of, but as a fan of other animated shows such as Love, Death & Robots and classics such as King of the Hill and of course The Simpsons I had to give it a look see.

Being old enough to remember quality cartoons as a child, and especially disappointed by the lack of effort and quality that plagued cartoons from the 90's to the present, this is welcome reminder of the quality of yesteryear. Much of the story is told by the expressions given by the main character Spear and of course the other dinosaurs in the show. The overall look of the slow is sleek and classy without being overly busy or annoying. It helps take you right into the action and the jungle scenes of the show and the fights are downright nail biters. This show pulls no punches and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There is also a sweetness to the characters that makes you easily feel for their situations. I won't spoil the action, but this is one of the best things to happen to the animation scene in a while, especially for those tired to death of the animated film racket and all those unrelenting sequels.

With savage survival comes friendship in the unlikeliest places
bingepulse-0629311 October 2019
When a character is lost after experiencing loss he manages to find friend(s) from a common enemy and by doing to right thing. So much symbolism as well as brutal violence with a gorgeous animation stunning style. Give it a watch, I can sense a lot more to come.

A Flawless Start to a Thrilling Story
omiroquai18 July 2022
The opening chapter to this masterpiece of action-based storytelling is truly flawless. From the outset, we teeter on the edge of survival alongside Spear and witness a world partly prehistoric, partly fantastical; and artfully brutal in a way which sells the grit of the characters' struggle while keeping us hanging on every blow of combat like we're kids watching Saturday morning cartoons again.

The story itself - and, in some ways, the animation, too - are rather simple. But every moment of this episode oozes with narrative value through art, sound, and direction, seamlessly placing us in the world without the need for exposition of any kind. The simplicity allows for a perfect balance between story beats and incidental worldbuilding.

In 20 minutes, we see Spear and Fang face tragedy in a way that emotionally invests and thrills us, leaving us eager to see them face more challenges.

Best animation of the XXI century so far.

I've heard this show was good but damn! I didn't expect the first episode to pack such a serious punch.

How to even begin to describe this absolute masterpiece? From the moment the animation begins you're in this world, the beautiful palette of colors is absolutely perfect to describe the drama, tension, violence, and beauty that this primitive world has to offer. The sound mixing is gorgeous to the point that if you're not listening with high-quality speakers/headphones you're really missing out.

The angles in which the direction presents the animation tell so much of the story without uttering a single word during the entire run of the episode. Plus the fluidity and design of the characters are just perfect. We are only left with a primal understanding of the feelings of the situations we have gone through with our main characters.

This episode leaves you broken and tearing up but with just enough of a silver lining to give you hope that maybe the end of the life as you know it is not really the end.

In a time where animation has been disregarded to badly-shaped characters in search of an original style, it's refreshing to see something so well crafted, honest, and with such unpretentious original designs.

I am so glad I saw this. This episode has become one of my favorite animations of all time.

Stunning visual storytelling

A beautiful story of loss only told with non verbal sound, music, and animation. The simple animation conceals within it a complexity that deepens the meaning of the show. The music pushes the story along, and the art brings it to life. Amazing episode.

Nice Beginning

Let me say first "bad" things: the drawing quality is not amazing but it gives you what you need to comprehend it all, I think that animals are a little bit too humanized. And maybe there is a thing that is too exaggerated. But in general is very cute! It's promising!

The best thing: the character's feeling are very well comprehensible.
