Daft Punk have shared a behind-the-scenes clip revealing the original storyboards for their beloved 1997 Michel Gondry-directed music video for “Around the World.” The video — originally part of the band’s DVD, D.A.F.T., also released in 1997 — showcases hand-drawn storyboards with scribbled instructions.
The original music video features numerous dancers moving around a stage in various costumes, including a group of mummies and women in synchronized swimming attire. The placement of the groups of dancers, drawn as stick figures, can be seen in the storyboards.

If any new trends catch on in 2022, one should insist on every film or television series justifying its existence beyond its potential to make a profit — especially when it comes to adaptations of IP previously adapted in multitudes. Under those terms, given the eight-episode end product that premieres tonight on PBS, there’s little explanation for this new adaptation of “Around the World in 80 Days,” Jules Vernes’ most adapted work. Any new take on Vernes’ classic, even after taking into account that 2022 marks the 150th anniversary of its original publishing, ought to be as adventurous and inventive as the story that inspired it. This one most certainly is not.
PBS’ version opens with three Englishmen of obvious privilege in conversation around a table in a members-only men’s club, wagering whether the pre-passenger-flight-era feat of human ambition and technological marvel implied in the title is achievable. It’s not Elon Musk,...

David Attenborough will choose his favorite recordings from the natural world that have revolutionized our understanding of song as part of a packed BBC Christmas slate on which he features twice.
The majority of shows on the slate, one of the BBC’s largest of the year, have already been announced, and The Wonder of Song from Mike Birkhead Associates is one of two Attenborough films that will air this December. The other is Windfall Films’ Attenborough and the Mammoth Graveyard (working title).
Wonder of Song will see the much-loved 95-year-old presenter choose songs from the largest lemur to the humpback whale and the lyrebird — all recorded in his lifetime, the oldest, when he was just 5 and the most recent from a few years ago. Attenborough’s longtime collaborator Mike Birkhead is writer, director and producer alongside Beth Jones.
The only other previously unannounced BBC Christmas shows are a Christmas...

A host of heavyweight European execs have debated the difficulty of competing with US streamers on big budgets, while criticising these players for failing to nurture local talent and buying up studio space.
Many of the panellists involved in today’s Getting Your Projects Financed session at the Mia Rome Market are involved with the European Alliance, which aims to co-produce programming such as the upcoming Around The World In 80 Days adaptation between European networks France Televisions, Italy’s Rai and Germany’s Zdf.
Manuel Alduy, France Televisions Head of Cinema and International Development, cited the complexities of co-producing with streamers who “want to discuss almost everything, from your position in the room to editorial to rights to IP.”
“Finding blockbusters like Around The World In 80 Days is therefore so important,” he added.
And deep-pocketed streamers like Amazon and Netflix are keener to take local rights than ever, according...

David Tennant bid farewell to his Tardis way back in 2010, but that doesn't mean he still can't travel in style! His upcoming miniseries sees the British star sizing down his travel plans to just one single planet in a brisk 80 days. It seems pretty do-able for someone who once explored the galaxy, but in the first trailer for "Around The World in 80 Days," Tennant is really struggling.
Check out the first trailer for "Around The World in 80 Days" below.
