One of Comedy Central's lesser roasts

The roast marathon continues with Flavor Flav, the hype-man for Public Enemy. Joining him were a decent assortment of comics, hip hop entertainers, and Brigitte Nielsen, who met him on his reality show FLAVOR OF LOVE. Usually I judge these by how much I laugh (I mean, how else should you judge something like this?), and unfortunately this isn't one of the really good ones. Sommore and Snoop Dogg were rather inconsistent in terms of content and delivery, while Brigitte Nielsen was just awkward and unfunny period. I also found Flavor Flav himself to be tone-deaf when it came to comedy. I could also tell that some of his segment was cut out. The standout performances were by people who regularly feature on these roasts: Greg Giraldo (RIP), Jeff Ross, and Lisa Lampanelli. For whatever reason, I love their no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners approach to insults, even if they heavily rely on scatological humor. Patton Oswalt's bit stuck out (in a good way) in contrast to this by making some more intelligent references (one of which he had to explain). Overall, I'd put this above the Donald Trump roast, but it's still somewhere near the bottom.

Enjoyed it a lot!

I agree with most of the other reviewers comments but I did enjoy this roast more than most other roasts I have seen. First, you do have to generally like black comedy (as in African American) in general to enjoy half of this roast.

The fact the reviewer forgot to mention Katt Williams and how great his performance was tells me they do not enjoy black comedy. He was fantastic throughout the entire show during every introduction he had something funny and clever to say. That's pretty important for a good roast. The fact someone would think Snoop Dogg or Brigdiette (sp) Nielson would be funny and have good comedic timing is pretty ridiculous when you think about it. They were no more funny than you or I would be up there reading pre-written jokes. You can add Ice-T to the list of people you would expect not to be super funny on the mic.

All of that said, every comedian was funny and had good original material. I enjoyed Katt and Patton Oswald the most. Also, their exchanges and shots at each other were classic. Always fun to watch this once a year or so.

Hilarious and Excellent
I absolutely love this roast. It's truly a great hour of television. It's my second favorite roast, second only to David Hasselhoff. I especially love the hilarious, gutbusting dark humor and just incredible jokes. Even though only two roasters didn't use scripts, it still manages to be one of the funniest TV specials ever. From start to finish, it's absolutely hilarious. Greg Giraldo got it off to an incredible start, Sommore killed, Jimmy Kimmel killed, and Ice-T killed. Jeff Ross did his usual thing, roasting the guest of honor, some people on the dais, some celebs in the audience, and then the guest of honor. Carrot Top owned it with the props, Brigitte Nielsen kind of slowed it down with her bombshell of a set, Patton Oswalt was funny, Snoop Dogg did incredibly well for his first roast, and Lisa Lampanelli was in a league of her own. Also Katt Williams was an amazing host. But it's really disappointing how mediocre Flavor Flav's revenge set was. He was basically just giving nicknames to like 5 people on the dais for 2 and a half minutes. But I still absolutely love this roast. It's incredibly laugh out loud hilarious and it's truly a top 3 roast all time, and it's 10 times better than Comedy Central's other roast of a famous musician with a black stand-up comic as roastmaster, the Roast of Justin Bieber.
