The writer of ITV's Cilla biopic will be honoured with this year's BAFTA TV Special Award.
Jeff Pope, whose other works include Mrs Biggs, Mo and Appropriate Adult, is receiving the accolade for his creative contribution to television.
The award was last presented in honour of Alan Clarke in 2009.
Pope said: "Alan Clarke was a hero of mine, and I am delighted to have been honoured with this award in his name.
"I have been lucky enough to work with some extraordinarily talented people, and this is a moment in my life to look back with gratitude to all those who have helped me achieve.
"Writing is all about facing down the tyranny of the blank screen, but my message to all aspiring writers is that once you've hit that first key, you discover it's really not so difficult as you'd imagined."

Graham Norton has joked that he wants to hate his show before the public does.
The comedian, who will host the BAFTAs tonight, explained that he isn't sure how long he will keep making The Graham Norton Show.
"Well, it all depends when the BBC kick me off!" he said. "If they kick me off next year, then yes, I'll keep going until then.
"It's one of those weird things - I don't know. I always said I'd retire at 50, but now I'm 51 and I'm still doing it and we're doing it for the future, I guess. And I'm still enjoying it. It's not like a chore. It's not like this awful thing that I've got to force myself to do - I like doing it, I like going to work. So hopefully I will start to hate it before the public start to hate it, and so I'll step...

Who doesn't love an awards show? The fantastic dresses, the backslapping, the emotion, the gutted faces, the fancy meals and goodie bags... and yes, we might watch it all from our sofas, but that just means we don't have to walk around in painful shoes all night. The BAFTAs are one of the best awards nights, too - with television's finest throwing on their gladrags for a proper shindig.
Keeping them all in line - just about - is host Graham Norton. But what is the ceremony really like? Let's take a peek behind the scenes with Graham, as we learn all about the party bus, this year's special winners, why the afterparty ain't all that, and how he deals with his nerves (er: booze).
1. There's something special about the BAFTAs.
"It is a big night. It's one of those few nights when everybody does show up, and everyone makes a bit of an effort,...

It's that time of year again - on Sunday, the brightest and best from the world of television will get honoured at the grand BAFTAs ceremony. And there to guide everyone through it (and mock them a little bit, probably) will be none other than Graham Norton. But what does he think about the current state of television? Read on to find out which show makes him cry, which one makes him laugh, and what he thinks will win the Audience Award...
Graham on... who will win the Audience Award
"Who will win? Oh, that is difficult. They're all very good - it's a very good list. Educating Yorkshire I think provided one of the standout moments of the year, really, with the stuttering boy. That was just really special. That's when you just want to hug your television. It's great that we all got to share in that - it was brilliant.
