A great start for and old cartoon
ganjagaminggg13 March 2017
I might be a little biased here, since I have watched Samurai Jack so much on CN when I was a kid, but this 1st episode really took off to a great start. In some ways its even better than the old seasons, because the theme its a little bit more mature (Adult Swim, duh), and I love that the style of animation is the same. If you were a fan of Samurai Jack as a kid, you will def like this very much. I personally cant wait for the new episodes.

Samurai Jack is back...back in our time!

Samurai Jack is finally back after long and awaited years! The drawing stays true to the original, the music has been improved and the cartoon has been upgraded to a more mature approach of events, while still having the same style of animation.

If you loved this cartoon when you were little, be prepared because you will love it again. Let's hope the producers continue this way as this is a great start.

Jack's Back!
Jacobawitz11 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers abound, because I discuss the whole episode, turn back if you haven't watched. But watch it now, please, it's amazing! You're not going to regret it!!!

That was a great start!!! 13 years have gone by, but it doesn't seem like the show skips a beat in its gorgeous animation, now updated with the current technology. We all need to thank Genndy Tartakovsky for giving us the revival and conclusion to the long desired "Samurai Jack."

Right off the bat, we get the best part of the show: the action. Boy does it deliver! Then, a new serious opening after the cold open. After 50 years, Jack's now living the Mad Max life. He's lost his sword, his purpose, his hope. He has to live with his inner (outer) demons. Guns, blood and darkness are abound. Skipping to the last third of the episode, the main villain for the episode they used was entertaining, yet a worthy enough foe for Jack. Good fight. Also, the new female team serving Aku were built up throughout the episode, and teased at the very end. And the second most important part of the show appears: Aku. He got a small cameo in this, vocally, however not physically yet. He's now a power that only graces a certain few, which makes his presence even more menacing. It's going to be great when he actually gets revealed, after all these years. Finally, we get the original theme in the credits, which still rocks. Plus, we got a nice tease for the next episode.

I absolutely can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of this season, anticipating every episode, week by week, until the finale. It's gonna be awesome!!!

The perfect way to continue a series!

Warning: Spoilers
Samurai Jack was an amazing cartoon series created by Genndy Tartakowsky. And we believed, we'll never know the end of it. It ended without a correct ending.

13 years later, Jack is back. And I must say, he's better than before! Samurai Jack season 5 is a lot more mature than the predecessor. Genndy Tartakowsky counted on we growing up and now, the show is on Adult Swim with more blood, more serious topics and... it's just crazy!

50 years have passed since the last episode, Jack doesn't age as a side effect of the time travel. He isn't the same. He's young, but his mind is old. He is losing sanity, he's broken mentally. But more badass then before! He lost his magical sword, but he uses all kind of other weapons.

The animation is a lot better, the art style is almost the same, but highly improved. The soundtrack and sound effects are awesome, the show is very atmospheric, it still doesn't have that much dialogue, but a bit more than in the previous four season.

It's truly a masterpiece, the good old comedy is still there, and it improved in many ways. 13 years waiting totally worth it. Genndy Tartakowsky proved himself again. He gave us with his crew what we the fans wanted. Samurai Jack is more mature and better than ever!

The journey continues...
u321013 March 2017
This review will not contain any spoilers or story elements. Why is that? Because in my opinion, it was never the overall story that made Samurai Jack really great. It was good and provided the show a nice tone, but still, what made this series become one of the most well known animated shows was its unique execution.

The art is still glorious, with clever ideas here and there. It's not the most well drawn animated series and it never was (although it is quality work). What makes the art really enjoyable is its style. And this goes for almost everything else too. The sounds and music are good and very stylish, making Samurai Jack stand out among other series. They tell you many things about the world without using any words. They all fit perfectly in every scene. But what do I mean by "perfectly"? I mean that after so many years, I felt like I was watching Samurai Jack. Not a reboot, not a remake, but the continuation of the last episode (of course not necessarily story wise). Although there is a difference in tone (this seems to be darker than the old episodes), it wasn't too different from the overall tone of the series, and certainly didn't feel forced, or like it was changed simply because they could finally add some bloody scenes. Every time you try to continue (or finish) one of your older works, there is a chance that it will feel outdated, or just too different from the original unfinished work, simply because you and the world have changed. This is why it's really hard to continue something you left in your drawer for years, and this is why I gave this episode a 10. I honestly never saw a "reboot" executed this well.

Genndy Tartakovsky and the crew seem to know what they are doing so far. I expect the tone to slowly get even darker, but that shouldn't be a problem, if the transition is handled as well as this episode. All in all if you expect a totally different take on Jack's story, or if you expect it to be exactly like the older episodes, you probably won't like it - although it will certainly become more different with time. But if you expect to see the newest episode of Samurai Jack, you won't be disappointed.

Jack is still as charming as he was during his youth

You have no idea how much I wanted to see this!! Even though I don't watch TV as much as I used to, this episode made me go back to watching TV. Samurai Jack is back and looks better than ever!

This episode does take a more serious tone unlike the other episodes. Yes, there have been serious episodes in the past but not like this. Jack is still struggling with the past and fighting to save his loved ones! There was one thing missing though. Where is the humor?! Oh wait, the first bad guy he fought was a laughable character but in a good way though.

Humor - Check Action - Check Storyline - Check Emotional Depth - Check

I NEED MORE SAMURAI JACK!!!!

Jack is back with 10000 charged voltage
samarsoory6516 March 2017
I was skeptical when it was announced that samurai jack will be coming back after my nightmares of watching reboots of beloved shows such as powerpuff girls and teen titans going horribly wrong. But Genndy Tartakovsky's idea to bring back samurai jack with season 5 not only evokes the nostalgia of the 2000s with its stunning action set pieces and visual storytelling, but it ups the game by improvising the animation to the nth degree while keeping its spirit intact. True, Adult Swim producing the show has made it the more dark and grim by delving deep into Jack's psyche as shown in the trailer. But that's how Samurai Jack was always meant to be--To showcase the undying spirit of a true warrior. Jack might not be home yet, but the show truly is! Kudos Tartakovsky and his team!

He is back Warning: Spoilers
(May contain spoilers) Long ago, in a distant land, Samurai Jack disappeared 13 years ago, in 2004, when the series ended abruptly. Now, 50 years has passed and he cannot age. Since the loss of his sword and will to fight, he has forsaken his purpose and family, therefore becoming a rōnin. A wandering samurai. Fulfilling the desire to save others, he appears to have learned the way of modern technology, which include weapons, armory and means of transportation. (Yes, he rides a bad-ass motorbike now).

Yet, he is still haunted by the fact that he disobeyed his main purpose and fights with his inner demons, as Aku sends, one by one, his best assassins in order to seek final termination of the remains of one deluded, but still strong and good at heart, samurai. It remains to be seen if he manages to succeed.

Glad to see Jack is back

Warning: Spoilers
After 13 years, Samurai Jack has returned and I'm surprised that this is a revival meaning the show pick up where it left off. In the beginning, when Season 5 was coming and before the trailer & plot was shown, I thought Jack would be like in his 70's and seeing the image I wondered did Jack somehow exercised a lot then I realized he did, but because Aku used his magic to send him to the future, Jack does not age. I can't believe that Aku has destroyed all the time portals. I'm thinking he is still in his 20's. The motorcycle is awesome for Jack to ride in and the armor fits him well, but I do miss the magic sword, also shave his beard and mustache. I just hope he finds it soon so that he can use to destroy Aku once and for all. I thought those girls were chosen to become the elite team and the Priestess chose them, turns out they are, but they are also her daughters and were training from the beginning. I know what Jack has been going through and his expression would like he is giving up, however, he is doing the best he can to save innocent lives and get back to the past. The robot bounty hunter uses his music way too much, I didn't expect that he would be alright accepting his fate when Jack uses a different weapon to destroy him. I do feel bad for Jack for the fact that he is facing so many hallucinations and nightmares.

An impressive comeback Warning: Spoilers
After all these years, Samurai Jack is back on television.

This brand new season is darker and more violent than the previous four ones, having also a bleaker tone, but I'm glad the writers decided to keep some humor and lighthearted silliness to balance the tension of the plot instead of going for a super-"edgy" approach.

This was a pretty solid beginning for this comeback, and definitely left me wanting to see more of these new adventures of Jack.
