- With Butcher still missing, Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and Kimiko are now fugitives, and Homelander and Vought are more powerful than ever. But just as the Boys are about to leave the country, they are pulled back into the fray.
- Billy has disappeared and the Boys are in hiding. Hughie still covertly meets with Annie, and the Seven get a new member over Homelander's objections. Translucent is eulogized, and the Deep is approached by another Super with an unusual offer.—Gislef
- Workers are redoing the statues of the Seven, and a gopher brings in the salads for the Voight board members, including CE Stan Edgar. Edgar is arguing the Department of Defense contract Voight is signing with Voight, and wondering about the change of command. Robert Singer asks who the Voight heroes report to when in the field, and Edgar says that they'll report to him.
In Al Zabadani, Syria, =Black Noir kills a woman, cutting her throat and letting the blood drip into the glass she was holding.
Edgar asks Singer if he wants to know half their heroes have Compound V in them.
Black Noir continues through the Syrian compound, killing everyone in his path.
Singer argues about Voight's "collateral damage clause", and Edgar says that they're looking at a possible casualty rate of 34%.
The Syrian Super, Naqib, is looking over the t-shirts with him on them. Black Noir comes in and kills his aide, and Naqib, turns and unleashes a blast of energy. When he's done, the charred Black Noir is still standing, otherwise unharmed. Later, Black Noir brings Naqib's severed head to the bedroom of a Syrian boy. The boy stares at Black Noir, and the Super grabs the boy's stuffed animal, puppets it briefly, then puts it back on the bed and leaves via the window.
Later in the States at Translucent's funeral, Homelander tells the press that Black Noir killed the super terrorist Naqib. However, the Super warns that sacrifices must still be made, and today they mourn a fallen member of the Seven. Homelander claims that the Super terrorist El Diablo murdered Translucent, and before he left, Translucent told Homelander to tell his son Maverick that he loved him. According to Homelander, Translucent asked the Super to find the terrorists and stop them. Homelander vows to find and stop them, and he'll do it for the people, for America, and for his friend Translucent
Homelander finishes his eulogy, and Starlight sings a song for Translucent. Deep is in a bar in Ohio, drinking and watching the televised funeral. He points out his shoulder in one of the photos, and complains that they cut him from the photo. The bartender tells Deep that he's had enough and it's time to go, or he'll call 'TMZ'.
Outside of Samaritan's Embrace, people have gathered to mourn Translucent at the shrines for him. Homelander and Starlight come out and wave to the cheering crowds, and a reporter asks them how the Seven are holding up. Starlight praises Homelander's leadership.
Hughie is watching the report on his phone, and stops the footage. He's in the Boy's safehouse beneath a pawnshop, with Frenchie's gangbanger friends.
At the Tower, Starlight goes to her room and undresses.
Hughie brushes his teeth.
In their separate rooms, Hughie and Starlight--Annie-- get dressed.
Starlight checks on the comatose A-Train.
Hughie goes to the common room where Frenchie, Mother's Milk, and Cherie are packing drugs. Kimiko is on the safe, scribbling the letter "B". As Hughie heads out, Mother's Milk tells him to come right back. Leaving through the pawnshop the safehouse is located under, Hughie pulls up his hood to cover his face.
Annie, in similar garb to disguise herself, leaves the Tower and meets Hughie on a subway train. They sit together and Annie confirms that no one followed her. She assures Hughie that they're okay, and Star Annie light finally tells Hughie that he looks like shit. He avoids saying where he and the Boys are now living, and gives her a file with a photo of a man, Gecko. Annie tells Hughie that she knows the man, and figures she has no choice but to do what she has to do.
Hughie changes the subject and says that he saw Starlight on the Teen Choice Award. Annie asks if he's stalking her on Instagram, and they argue about the actor she was seen with. She says that at least he didn't lie to her every day, and Hughie takes the hint. Star Annie light apologizes, but Hughie prepares to get off as the train approaches its next stop. She tells him to get some sleep, and Hughie tells her that he'll sleep when he knows she's safe.
At a water park in Sandusky, a drunken Deep is complaining at children from a play structure. As the children run away, two policemen arrive and take him to a holding cell. An officer finally releases him, saying that he made bail, and at the desk Eagle the Archer is waiting. He offers Deep a Fresca, and says that he's out of Cleveland and they've met before. Deep barely remembers him, and Eagle says he bailed Deep out because even heroes need a hand sometime.
A TV re-enactment shows that Billy supposedly murdered Stillwell, and the Boys watch the show. They wonder if Billy is dead, and photos of them coming up with a crimestopper phone number. Milk says that they have to leave, and Frenchie says that they need to smuggle enough guns to make the money to escape the country. Hughie suggests that they don't run, saying that they should take the knowledge of Compound to the New York Times. He says that someone can get them some as evidence, and insists that they don't need Billy. When Hughie argues with Frenchie, Milk angrily tells him to shut up and that it's over.
At the Tower, Homelander looks through Stillwell's old office. He finds photos of the two of them, taken down, and looks at them wistfully. Homelander then takes a bottle of Stillwell's breast milk out of her refrigerator, dethaws it with his heat vision, and drinks it.
Ashley Barrett comes in and Homelander puts the bottle away. She says that the renovation of what is her new office was overdue, and thanks Homelander for referring her for the job. Barrett promises to fill Stillwell's shoes as best she can, and asks if Homelander has had any luck capturing Billy. Homelander says that he hasn't but he will, and Barrett has found a replacement for Translucent. She takes Homelander to the gym, where the new Super, the blind but enabled Blindspot, is working out.
Blindspot comes over and tells Homelander that it's an honor. He's able to identify Homelander by sound, and Homelander admits that he's impressed. The two Supers exchange compliments, and then Homelander asks what happens if Blindspot is deafened. He palmslaps Blindspot's ears, and Blindspot collapses to the ground in agony, his ears bleeding. Homelander angrily tells Barrett that he would never let a cripple into the Seven, demands that she look at him, and tells her that she answers to him. From now on, Homelander says that he will approve his own marketing and write his talking points, and Barrett is there to tell him what happens on the Voight board. He finishes by telling Barrett that he'll decide who goes in the Seven, not her, and Barrett hastily agrees.
Starlight takes a taxi back to the Tower, and ignores texts from her mother asking Starlight to call her. The TV in the taxi runs an ad about the new 'Citizen Starlight' show coming in the fall, and Starlight angrily and instinctively destroys the screen.
Going to a motel, Starlight waits outside as Gecko and another man go into a room. The other man, a businessman, pays Gecko so that he can chop him with a machete once Gecko has put down a plastic sheet to catch the blood. Starlight secretly watches from the window as the businessman chops at Gecko's arm, and she takes video. She eventually backs away in disgust, and Gecko tells the businessman that he can keep the severed arm as he grows a new one.
Milk is working on a dollhouse, and one of the gangers comes in with another one who has been injured. As Frenchie, Kimiko, and Hughie come in, Milk tends to the wounded ganger. The ganger's arm has been flayed and half his bones broken, and Milk the other ganger that he has to take the injured man to the hospital. Frenchie argues with the ganger, who warns that the police are looking for them, while Milk tries to stabilize the badly injured man. The ganger storms off, and Hughie asks Frenchie what the ganger said.
That night, Milk and the other Boys go to a demolished ship, the 'Scorpion'. They go inside and check the security footage, which shows that Frenchie's contacts were smuggling human cargo as well as guns. Frenchie professes ignorance, and Milk figures that he never asked. The footage shows two men arguing, and one of them, a Super terrorist, levitates the 'Scorpion' and drops it on the other man. Frenchie realizes his contacts smuggled in the Super.
Homelander watches a Voight focus group on "super terrorists", and tells Barrett that "super villain" is a better term. Barrett has the leader Jill ask the group what they think of "super villain", and one member says that it sounds better. Homelander smiles in satisfaction, and Jill asks the group which they like better "Saving the world" or "Saving America". They prefer "world", but Homelander prefers "America". When Barrett disagrees, Homelander tells her that it's an American army that will keep the Supers in the world. Barrett hastily agrees with him.
Deep wakes up on a couch, and thanks Eagle for letting him crash at the latter's apartment. A woman is there, and Eagle introduces her as Carol. Carol offers Deep a Fresca, and once he accepts, Eagle says that they've all been rock-bottom. His rock-bottom moment came when he ran out of arrows during a hostage situation, and with some prompting from Carol, Eagle learned from her that he saw arrows are timeless. Carol tells Deep that she's a teacher, not a therapist, and she asks Deep how he ended up in Sandusky.
Eagle tells Deep that he can open up about his drinking problems. Deep denies it, and Carol asks why he keeps demeaning women. Disgusted, Deep says that he's leaving. Carol says that she can help him get back into the Seven, and offers him a book written by the Church of the Collective.
At the safehouse, Kimiko is watching a broadcast about Deep's recent activities. She shows Frenchie an origami sculpture she found near the 'Scorpion', and writes down "boy" on a piece of paper. Frenchie doesn't understand, and Kimiko walks off in frustration. He tells Hughie that his contacts aren't his friends, and Hughie wonders what they should do. Milk asks what his plan is, and Hughie suggests that they call Rayner. Frenchie proposes that they call Billie, and Hughie suggests that they call in Starlight.
Milk isn't thrilled with Hughie's idea, and reminds Hughie that Starlight is a Super. He figures that Hughie already called Starlight, and Hughie admits that he met her and they're getting some Compound V. Milk grabs Hughie by the collar and angrily tells Hughie that the Seven could have followed him and be watching them already.
Hughie tells Milk that he's been acting like he wants to kick his ass for days, and tells the other man to do it already. Milk walks away in frustration, then says that he doesn't want to kick Hughie's ass but just wants to go back to his life and his kid if he still can. He tells Hughie to let someone else handle the Super terrorist, and Hughie tells Milk that there's no one else who can handle it. Milk tells Hughie that he's just a kid who sells stereos, and Hughie tells him that everyone close to him has left. All he has is the safehouse, and he can be someone who no one thinks is awesome but it turns out they are. If they help Rayner then she can help them get back to normal lives.
Annie goes to a diner and finds Gecko there, and greets her former friend. Gecko says that he works in the labs at the Tower, and is happy for her. He buys her coffee, and Gecko remembers when they were at Bible camp together. She figures that there's no watching over them, God or Homelander, and it's all just lies. Annie then asks Gecko for a favor: steal a sample of Compound V. Gecko claims he doesn't know what Compound V is, and Annie calls him on the lie. When Gecko says that he can't get in, Annie threatens to put the video of Gecko and the businessman that she took at the motel. She then apologizes for blackmailing Gecko, and tells him that they're not friends or anything else.
Homelander and Maeve film a promotional video at a fake army encampment, and they introduce another "hero", Lance Corporal Daniel Miller. A Super, Stormfront, arrives at the set and films herself. Homelander and Maeve come over, and Stormfront says that she's the new girl replacing Translucent. Barrett looks sheepish and claims she doesn't know anything about it. Homelander confirms that Edgar told her she was in the Seven, and Homelander seemingly accepts it and goes back to filming.
The Boys drive down the street, and Milk figures that Hughie wants to get back with Starlight. He tells Hughie that he can't keep calling Starlight, and warns that Hughie is putting Starlight in danger. If Homelander finds out, he'll kill her.
Meeting at a covert spot with Rayner, Milk tells her that Billy has ghosted. Milk admits that he doesn't know if Billy killed Stillwell, and asks about his family. Rayner tells him what his daughter is doing, and she says that she'll see what she can do. Milk gives her a description of the Super terrorist from the video, and Rayner figures that Vought is conducting a coup from the inside.
Rayner's head explodes, and the Boys get into their van and drive off. Hughie panics, and Frenchie says that he doesn't know of any Super that can make heads explode.
Congresswoman Victoria Neuman is on TV talking about how Vought can't use the fear of super terrorists to gain power. Edgar is watching the show in his office, and Homelander comes in and claims he's making a social visit. Homelander brings up the hiring of Stormfront, saying that he's the leader of the Seven, and tells Edgar that even Stillwell wouldn't have tried to pull that kind of "shit" with him. The Super says that he is Vought, and points out that it might be time for him to move on.
Homelander asks how Vought shareholders would feel about him leaving. Edgar asks what he knows about Frederick Vought, their founder. The Super says that he doesn't know much, and Edgar tells him the real story of Hitler appointment of Vought as chief scientist, and Vought developed Compound V while working for the Nazis. Vought joined the Allies eventually, developed practical application of Compound V, and created Supers like Soldier Boy. Roosevelt eventually pardoned Vought. Edgar tells Homelander that Vought is a pharmaceutical company and their most valuable asset is Compound V. Homelander released it into the "wild".
The Super denies it, and Edgar tells him what he did to get the Supers into national defense but possibly destroying the company. Homelander angrily says that he doesn't appreciate Edgar's tone, and Edgar points out that it's only a matter of time before the public finds out about Compound V. Vought is trying to clean up the mess Homelander made, and Edgar tells the Super that he doesn't have to confront him about Stormfront or anything else.
Edgar dismisses Homelander, who storms out and flies to the suburban home where Becca lives. He knocks at the door, and when Becca answers, Homelander smiles and says that he came to see his son.
At the safehouse, Hughie blames himself for getting Rayner killed. Milk assures Hughie that it wasn't his fault and someone was watching Rayner and killed her when she said something she wasn't supposed to. He points out that they're in the middle of Vought assassinating the deputy director of the CIA.
Annie calls Hughie and tells him that Gecko is getting her the Compound V in a day or so. She wants to burn Vought down, and Hughie says that they should consider the best way to take them down. Hughie says that he doesn't want Annie to get hurt, and Annie says that he can trust her to tell her whatever happened. She doesn't believe Hughie claiming that he just wants to take their time, and demands the truth. Hughie swears that he isn't lying to her, and Annie hangs up and sits on a park bench.
Billy knocks out a ganger and comes into the safehouse. Frenchie has the gangers lower their guns, and tells Hughie that he called Billy in because it isn't a game anymore. The man says that they need a leader, and Billy says that "daddy's home".
