Hulu plans to celebrate April 20 with Jimmy Kimmel.
The Disney-backed streamer has handed out a six-episode series order for High Hopes, a docuseries following two brothers running a cannabis shop in Los Angeles with Kimmel on board to exec produce.
Hulu describes High Hopes as a “workplace reality series following Belarus-born brothers Slava and Mishka and their stoned crew through the trials and tribulations of taking their cannabis business to new heights. As one of the oldest cannabis dispensaries in Hollywood, Mmd attracts a wild mix of weed-loving customers and is a home away from home for their Og employees who work hard and smoke harder! This season builds to their biggest day of the year — 4.20 — as the gang attempts to expand nationwide and release their own top-shelf cannabis brand. Will they find what they’re looking for or will their hopes go up in smoke?”

This joyful game show hosted by Kelly Ripa returns with family teams made up of one junior and one senior battling over how much — or how little — they know about the other’s generation. According to Ripa, one age group has an edge: “The seniors really know what’s going on,” she says. “They have a tremendous bandwidth of knowledge from all generations — not just theirs! We have to go to TikTok to try and stump them.” In Generation Gap Season 2, three family teams compete (up from two), and another change endangers contestants’ cash: If they get zero correct answers in a round, they could lose a portion of their winnings — bad for them but entertaining for us. “From our experience, the wrong answers are the best answers,” says Ripa, chuckling. Besides generation quiz rounds, more secret celebrities show their faces for “Who Am I?” (Anderson Cooper and Donny Osmond appeared last season.

It’s all fun and games until the Emmys start handing out awards. Then the real competition begins.
This year, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will present its first statue for outstanding game show. Previously, game shows were honored during the Daytime Emmys, where “Jeopardy” has claimed 11 of the last 20 years of awards.
But in 2021, the New York-based National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which handles the Daytime Emmys, and the L.A.-based Television Academy, which handles the Primetime Emmys, decided to bring game shows into the primetime heat.
It’s not a shock considering a slew of rebooted classic games and wild new competitions have led to a resurgence in the genre. Coupled with the seemingly endless search for a new “Jeopardy” host that consumed the nation, game shows are all the rage again.
When confirming the category inclusion last August, the TV Academy broadly revealed what it takes to qualify,...

ABC is relying on spin-offs from “The Bachelor” franchise and a stacked unscripted slate to fill up its fall schedule amid the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike.
The network set its programming for the fall season, headlined by the premiere of new spin-off series “The Golden Bachelor” — featuring an older suitor looking for a second chance at love with contemporary contestants — along with the anticipated broadcast return of “Dancing With the Stars” to the network’s Monday night programming.
The network notably declined to set a timeline for the return of its renewed scripted series — including network fan-favorites “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Conners” and the newly acquired “9-1-1” — as the ongoing WGA strike impacts productions industrywide.
Reruns of “Abbott Elementary” airing back-to-back at 9 p.m. Et/Pt Wednesdays are the only scripted show on the fall schedule.

ABC has extended its deal with Jimmy Kimmel for the comedian’s late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for another three years, which will take him through Season 23.
“After two decades at ABC, I am now looking forward to three years of what they call ‘quiet quitting,’” he joked in a statement Tuesday.
The extension of Kimmel’s self-titled Emmy-winning series will make him one of the longest-running hosts on TV, among the likes of Jay Leno, whose late-night show lasted 22 seasons.
“For 20 years, Jimmy Kimmel has been a huge part of the ABC family and the heartbeat of late-night television,” Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu & Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals, said in a statement. “Not only has he entertained our audiences night after night with his sharp comedy, dynamic interviews and irreverent humor, but he has gotten us through some of the most momentous events in our history with optimism and heart.

Jimmy Kimmel is no longer vacillating.
The comedian is staying in late-night after extending his contract with ABC for a further three years.
The deal ends a year of speculation within the late-night community after Kimmel told Howard Stern that he was debating whether to stick or twist.
Cancellations/Renewals Scorecard: TV Shows Ended Or Continuing In 2021-22 Season
The pact will keep Kimmel as host and exec producer of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! through its 23rd season. January will mark the 20th anniversary of the show, which premiered in January 2003.
The deal means that he will surpass Jay Leno, who hosted NBC’s The Tonight Show for 22 years — though Kimmel still has a few years to go to catch up to Conan O’Brien, who spent 28 years in late-night; Johnny Carson, who hosted The Tonight Show for 30 years; and Kimmel’s hero David Letterman, who spent 33 years in late-night.
